Sunrise Mountain at Seton Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Thursday February 15th I attended the OPEN playoff game of #21 <strong>Sunrise Mountain Mustangs</strong> heading to Chandler to take on #5 <strong>Seton Catholic Prep Sentinels</strong>.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Sentinels came out fast with a 24-4 first quarter lead. Unfortunately, the star junior [player_tooltip player_id='608973' first='Savanna' last='Dotray'] hurt herself in the quarter. Seton led 34-15 at halftime and 47-19 heading into the 4th quarter and ended up winning <strong>54-22</strong> with a true balanced attack. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Here were the standouts from the game</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='669795' first='Caitlyn' last='Benally'] Catholic</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A skilled power forward can shoot it from mid-range with a soft jumper. She is a good passer and holds her ground well in the paint. It is very hard to move her with a strong base. She has quick hands on defense and blocks shots in her area. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='660334' first='Mia' last='DiPuccio'] Seton Catholic</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A highly skilled face-up power forward can score inside with reverse layups with polished footwork using her handle. She will hit the mid-range jumper, dribble drive to the basket with and-1's in traffic. She is also an out of area rebounder.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='655631' first='Carmella' last='Gallardo'] Seton Catholic</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A good sized scoring guard can score it from all levels. She can crossover into a mid-range pull-up, hit the catch three, give a hard shot fake and will take two dribbles into a runner off the glass. She has a good feel to make a play.  </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='836804' first='Raigan' last='Gregston'] Seton Catholic</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A bigger forward who is a top end defender for her size and position. She can hit the catch three plus pull-up from mid-range. She will play the passing lanes well and is a real rebound chaser to keep plays alive and give them extra possessions.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='660337' first='Sophie' last='Morales'] Seton Catholic&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A true point guard with jets to burn in the open court. She gets to the FT line in bunches, has the floater game, she will hit the catch three or pull-up with range. She can turn the corner and get a step on her defender to the basket. She finished with a game high of around 20 points. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='837250' first='Addison' last='Weimann'] Sunrise Mountain&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the tallest sophomores in the class scores it with fall aways in the paint, she will step out and shoot the three and dribble drive into the post and then will crab dribble to score. Her teammates often lob it to her to go to work. She is a two-handed rebounder and will collect steals with quick hands.  </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='855693' first='Jaden' last='Maza'] Sunrise Mountain</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A wing forward with good size who handles the ball well. She can get to the free throw line with a floater game. She will create her own separation and get a clean shot off and hit straightaway triples with confidence.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
