Teams of the week 1/29/24-2/2/24

They are 14-4 overall after a very impressive 3-0 week. They opened their week with an overtime win over Brentsville, then followed that up with a blowout over Liberty. After winning back-to-back games on the road, they beat a good Heritage team by 2 in a low-scoring game at home. This Meridian team is led by Junior Guard [player_tooltip player_id='848985' first='Ellie' last='Friesen'], who had a great week herself. Senior Forward [player_tooltip player_id='868591' first='Maureen' last='Tremblay'] is underrated and does everything for this Meridian team. Meridian has won seven in a row and is a team to watch heading into postseason play.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Bishop Ireton<br></strong>Bishop Ireton went 2-0 this week, and on Friday, they got one of the best wins of the week. They went to Elizabeth Seton and beat one of the best teams in Maryland in a close and highly entertaining game. They also beat St. Mary's Ryken by almost 50. With big games against Good Counsel, PVI, and Bishop McNamara coming up, Bishop Ireton will get a chance to rack up some more impressive wins.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Osbourn Park<br></strong>Osbourn Park has had Gainesville number recently, and they continued that trend this week, beating them by 11. Gainesville is a terrific team, so this win alone was impressive. What makes it so significant is OP clinched the Cedar Run regular season title. They last lost three weeks ago and look hard to beat. The production they get from their excellent Sophomores class is extremely impressive, and getting a healthy Alexandra Brown back takes this team to another level. Osbourn Park beat Patriot on Friday in a lopsided game to cap off a great week.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Lake Braddock<br></strong>Lake Braddock has been playing good basketball over the past month and is a team that you don't want to have to play in a must-win game. Their defense is great, and they are surging right now. They beat a good Woodson team by 7 in a very low-scoring game. Then they beat Alexandria City by almost 30. [player_tooltip player_id='260610' first='Sarah' last='Pritz'] is this team's best player and has been playing outstandingly lately. Elena Small is a good player as well. If you play Lake Braddock, you are in for a fight, and after a rough start to the season, they are back at .500.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
