Playing in possibly the final game of her career, Barnett showed up against a Frankfort squad that had ended the Warriors’ season the past two years. She nailed a school-record 10 3s on the way to a 39-point night as Trinity danced to Charleston after a 61-40 win over the Falcons. Barnett struck, and struck, and struck, and struck, again! All over the court shots fell, and in every quarter the girls celebrated as they pulled themselves that much closer to a state tournament appearance. Barnett led the way. She tallied 13 points in the first half, but powered the team to the promised land with 26 second-half points.
Preslee Treadway Preslee Treadway 5'8" | SF Greenbrier West | 2025 State WV , Greenbrier West, G, 5-8, Jr. – Playoff Preslee struck again! One year after she hit a buzzer beater that propelled the Cavaliers to Charleston, she did her best during her groups’ 95-92 loss to RiverView in the regional final. She helped her Cavaliers keep even with a Warrior’s team they had beaten by 31 points back at the start of the year. Treadway tallied 46 points in a yeoman’s effort. She was especially effective in the final quarter. Every time her team needed her, she was there. She tied the game up at 78 all with 4:31 left in the quarter. Moments later, she pushed her team in front with a pair of free throws. She followed it up with a huge 3 that put her team back up 85-84. Finally, her last tally knotted things up at 91-91. If you are a coach in the market for a team player, you definitely want to give Treadway a look. She really does have that clutch gene in her.
Chasity Kennedy, River View, G, 5-8, Fr. – Talk about Clutch! Kennedy may have been a freshman, but she wasn’t scared in the closing minute of River View’s 95-92 win over Greenbrier West. When her team needed her to chip in, she responded. Kennedy canned the eventual game winner with 45 seconds left that set the score at 94-91. All of her late game action came on top of her early game heroics. When both point totals combined, she tallied 34 points. Coaches may want to keep an eye on this kid. It seems like she’s just getting started with a promising high school career.
Mary Rushworth Mary Rushworth 6'1" | PF Charleston Catholic | 2026 State WV , Charleston Catholic, F, 6-0, So. – Luck of the Irish? Nah. More like skill of the Irish. Rushworth showed off a versatile game in the Irish’s win over Wirt County. She did a little bit of everything well in the 50-20 victory. She stole the ball from the Tigers. She scored in front of the Tigers. She snatched caroms away from the Tigers. About the only thing she didn’t do was dish out of her teammates. But, that was only because teammate Aurelia Kirby took care of the assists. Rushworth finished the night with 24 points, 6 rebounds and six steals. Coaches may want to take a look at the forward, who just might be the most athletic kid on the Irish roster.
Faith Pickens Faith Pickens 6'2" | C Williamstown | 2025 State WV , Williamstown, P, 6-3, Jr. – Double Trouble! Williamstown needed an monster effort from its big and Faith Pickens Faith Pickens 6'2" | C Williamstown | 2025 State WV delivered. Locked in a second-half and eventual overtime duel with rival St. Marys, Pickens picked up her offensive and defensive game. She tallied 20 points and 18 rebounds in the face of many double teams and face guards. She showed strong skills in moving around the basket, and she altered many of the Blue Devils’ shots in a 51-48 win. Even St. Marys’ Addie Davis and her game-high 27 points couldn’t keep the Yellowjacket’s big down, she always answered.
