In this article, we highlight five individuals that will be competing this AAU season with some successful programs out of Iowa.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Rebecca Aagard Rebecca Aagard 6’2″ | PF North Polk | 2025 State IA of North Polk High School put together a rememberable Junior season with the Comets and she is prepped for a big Spring ahead with her Lady Pure Prep AAU team. Aagard is one of the best Centers out of the 2025 Class, that is still looking for a future home after her high school career comes to a close. She is an athlete that stands tall at 6’2 and she moves pretty well for her size. More times than not, Aagard is Rebounding at a high rate and cleaning up the messes of her teammates on both sides of the floor. She demonstrates that defensively she can be a game-changer with her mixture of size and discipline, while being a weapon on offense whenever she is set up for success with some time and space with her back to the basket. This AAU season is an important one for a few reasons but I think it’s going to be the time that Aagard’s recruitment could thrive. If she makes the most of her opportunities, I’m sure there will be a coach or two out there that will be inquiring about her future on the hardwood.
The Monticello Panthers always put together solid high school seasons when it comes to their overall play. One of their prospects, that has been a vital piece to their success these past few years is Forward, Jayden Kuper Jayden Kuper 5’11” | SF Monticello | 2025 State IA . Kuper has size, strength, wherewithal, and knowledge of the game. She understands to keep things easy and and simple whenever she can but she is also skilled enough to hit her opponent with a counter-move or three to free herself up whenever necessary. Kuper and her Iowa Dream AAU team are going to have a ton of solid competitors on their roster. If they come prepared and hungry, they are going to dominate a lot of opposing programs over there next few months. They have a few high-level prospects who are going to get a shot to play at the next level so it’ll be exciting to see what they can put together as a group over these next 3-4 months. As for Kuper individually, she is going to do her thing and take care of business per usual. I’m sure that will grab the attention of a lot of potential recruiters that are watching in the crowd moving forward.
Bailey Birmingham Bailey Birmingham 5’9″ | SF Norwalk | 2025 State IA of Norwalk High School put together one of the most impressive seasons out of any recruit, at any level this Winter throughout the state of Iowa. Now it’s time to see what she can do on a high-level AAU court with her All Iowa Attack team. Birmingham absolutely dominated these past few months, putting up eye opening numbers almost every night that she took the floor. I now need to see how she does against prospects from other states that can really play. If she comes out these next few months and she shows the same dominance that she put on during the high school season, she is going to have a phone that won’t stop buzzing. She is going to be a hot commodity, that every program throughout the Midwest is going to want to have a conversation with at that D2 and D3 level.
Highlights
Another interesting prospect out of this 2025 Class, that I think could compete at the next level and will have a few interesting months this AAU season is Forward, Kelli Storck Kelli Storck 6’0″ | PF ADM | 2025 State IA of ADM High School. Storck has long arms, coordination, and an aggressive play style. She is an athlete that is pretty good at making a difference on both sides of the ball. Offensively, she can work from all three levels, usually finishing the play with a crafty take to the basket. Defensively, she displays active hands and good knowledge of the game to know when to go for steals compared to sitting back and waiting for her opponent to make a mistake. This past few months, Storck has put up productive numbers and shown her worth. She is going to be lacing up with CY Select for another AAU season on the road. If she can take the momentum from her high school season and channel it into the next few months, I’m sure she is going to thrive.
Ballard High School is going to lose their leading producer from the past few season due to graduation next year and that means someone else is going to have to step up. The player that I like to do that is PG, Reagan Loewe. Loewe is a quick thinking, fast moving Guard, who doesn’t take no for an answer. She is very good and picking her spots against her matchup, no matter what the situation may be. She is going to be the prospect next season for this group that everything runs through. I think her success for that season starts over these next few months on the road. If she can continue to work hard, work on her efficiency, and her team’s run good stuff then she is going to look like a star. This situation is very fluid right now but I think it’s more than possible. She just needs to keep on working.
