Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
A prospect that is a new addition to this 2027 Class, that put on an eye-opening Freshman year is Nat Linder of North Mahaska High School. Linder has two things that all coaches love, a high motor and natural height. She is listed at 6’1 and is agile in most of her movements. Right now her talent is very raw but she has the capabilities to become a monster on the boards over her next three seasons, as well as scoring the ball at a high rate because she will be cleaning up the messes of her teammates in the paint area. There are some really talented prospects in this Class that have size and Linder is in that conversation. If she works on the correct things moving forward and her team runs an offense that can get in her positions to keep it simple and be successful, she should thrive over the next three years. Especially against the competition she has to play in that conference. If she takes it seriously, she could put up some of the best numbers throughout the state for her position.

Another individual that has some height and promise to her game, that I’m going to be keeping an eye on during this travel season is Hallie Vander Weerdt Hallie Vander Weerdt 5’11” | C Southeast Polk | 2027 IA of Southeast Polk. From all of my accounts of watching her compete, there is a lot that she could build on moving forward. She demonstrates a soft touch on the ball, knowledge of where to move around on the floor, and balanced footwork once she catches near the block. If the Guards around her can penetrate against their initial defender, Vander Weerdt does a great job of stepping up and making herself available. Defensively, she could be an “X-factor.” If she stays disciplined and stays down on shot attempts, she could get her hands on a ton of shots near the rim. Everyone at this age has a long way to go but what I’ve seen out of Vander Weerdt so far has been noteworthy.
Kylee Pexa Kylee Pexa 5’8″ | PG Dunkerton | 2027 IA of Dunkerton High School plays with controlled emotions. She is the type of player that shows how she is feeling out on the court every contest within reason and her teammates always seem to thrive off of that. Pexa put up productive numbers as a Freshman, ranking as a top producer in her 2027 Class in more categories than one. She demonstrated that during each contest, she is going to show out in one way or another. This Winter she displayed that she is an offensive weapon at all three levels of the floor. If the defender sags off of her, she will hit a deep shot. If they play up, she will drive by them for a floater or finish at the rim. There is a lot to like about Pexa and her play-style. Once she gets a little stronger and more “fluid” with the ball in her hands, she is going to become even more dominant and I can’t wait to see that first-hand.

Kylee Hill Kylee Hill C Burlington | 2027 IA is a duel sport athlete that excels on both the hardwood and the Softball diamond. As a Freshman at Burlington High school, Hill chipped in little by little. Each game she tried to step up around the rim and make a difference for her Grey Hounds squad. A team that has a group of skilled underclassmen, that are sure to keep this program relevant over the next couple of seasons. You need to trust the process and that’s going to be key with this group. If their core players stay together and commit to get better as a team, while also working individually in the off-season, then we might be seeing a whole new beast come next Winter. It’s too far out to tell but Hill is a big piece to this program’s puzzle so I hope they can make it work come the 2024-2025 season.
Dike- New Hartford is a team that has dominated the past few seasons because of their Senior group that is about to graduate but a prospect that stepped up as a Freshman for them this year was PG, Payton Foster Payton Foster 5’7″ | PG Dike-New Hartford | 2027 IA . Foster is someone who doesn’t make too many mistakes. She plays her role and makes things happen whenever her teams offense happens to break down. During her Wolverine’s Post-season run last week, Foster led this group is scoring for a few games. Showing off her ability to launch it from deep in a plethora of different ways, usually ending the possession in a bucket. I’m excited to see what Foster is going to be able to do next season when she has to produce more often. I’m sure she is going to shine as long as she can keep things simple.
