Expert Analysis
Jeremy Brooks | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Nat Linder might be committed to play D1 Volleyball at Indiana State but she is still really solid on the hardwood because of her mixture of athletic ability and size at 6’2. We saw brief moments out of Linder this last weekend on both sides of the floor. She got after it on both ends and showed up as someone that can stick on the court because of her discipline. I think the best part around her game is that she is willing to do anything to help the team win. It’s not necessarily about her scoring points or grabbing 30 boards a contest. Which is stuff you love to see from a recruitment or evaluation standpoint.

of North Mahaska High School is already committed to compete on the D1 Volleyball floor in the future following her high school days. If you don’t know, Linder is 6’2 and athletic as can be. She moves extremely well with her size down the floor and she is coordinated enough to be able to handle the ball as a guard in certain situations. As you could imagine, this is a mismatch nightmare for most. Her natural size alone is usually too much for others to handle and that’s not even mentioning the skill side of things that she pairs along with that. North Mahaska has one more Winter with Linder around and they are looking to make the most of it. As long as everyone plays their part, they should put together a season to remember in certain aspects.

‘s name jumps off the paper when you see that she is labeled as a 6’1 SF/PG but when you watch her game, you understand that she could be labeled the 1-5 right now within her high school program at North Mahaska. Linder does a little bit of everything when she is competing. She records rebounds, blocks, steals, points, and even some assists – always making it looks easy in one way or another. As we always say, you can’t teach height. To be able to be 6’1 and move how Linder does, it is impressive but there is still work to be done. Linder could end up as a college Basketball player or even a college Volleyball player at the end of the day. She will probably have some choices but for now she is locked in on the season at hand as we move into the New Year.

North Mahaska got on the board last night with a win vs Iowa Valley High School, 54-21. In this outing the stand out for North Mahaska was SF/CG –

. Linder is a mismatch problem for most. Someone who takes the court at over 6’1 with some guard like tendencies. The issue is that she is clearly one of the tallest prospects in her conference so she ends up by the hoop a lot because it’s easy pickings in reality. A good example of that is last night. Linder ended with 13 points (6/7) & 10 rebounds. She did her job controlling what was happening around her in the painted area and that stood out to everyone watching. Iowa Valley never had an answer for that and because of it, the Warhawks ended up coming out as the winners when it was all said and done.

The size that

takes with the hardwood with is noteworthy. Linder, the 6’1 Forward, has some guard like tendencies and she understands how to uses them but she really makes her money near the hoop with her ability to crash the boards, score, and defend at such a consistent rate. If North Mahaska wants to make some more production on their past year’s success, Linder will need to be the main piece to their puzzle. Her size alone is going to be tall enough to average a double-double in the first half of contests if used correctly and she is properly motivated. We will just have to see how everything plays out.

is going to be looked upon to compete at a high rate this upcoming Winter with North Mahaska with the loss of their Varsity producer from years past. Linder comes to the court at 6’0, she is a constant on the glass on both sides of the ball with her natural height, and she pairs that with some better than average athletic ability and understanding of the game as a whole. This helps her record a bunch of points, blocks, and rebounds on a consistent basis. With the competition level that this team will face, Linder should average a double-double this Winter if she is motivated and used correctly. That goal is more than do-able.

Along with Schilling, the other tall prospect in the middle for the Warhawks is

. Linder is a 6’0 PF that lets her size really stand out. She might not be the one to kill you in any certain category but she is definitely someone that makes her mark on a contest with her length and reach. In this one she was efficient on both ends of the ball but she really happen to thrive on offense. She finished with 9 points (4-5), and 8 rebounds, 5 of which came on the offensive end. She also had 2 blocks and 2 steals to pair along with all of that. This was a big win for the Warhawks in my opinion. If they want to keep this train rolling, Linder is going to have to continue to impact things like she did last night.

is a standout in multiple high school sports because of her natural height at just over 6’0. With the size that Linder possesses, the competition level that her North Mahaska team competes again, and the prospects around her, you can easily see her averaging a double-double throughout her high school career on the hardwood. Now will that happen? I’m not sure. From my understanding, with her height she is a natural athlete in a few different sports and she is getting some real college looks in those aspects. Either way, if her coaching staff can work on getting her open and they can find someone to throw her the ball after

but that doesn’t change the fact that she is a very interesting prospect out of this Class moving into the future in Iowa. Linder works hard, has size at 6’0-6’1, and she leaves it all out on the floor every contest. Something that anyone can respect from an outside point of view. This Winter at North Mahaska she will have a chance to help out her team to make an impressive State run before the end of the year. With her combination of size, smarts, balance, and coordination, I’m expecting her to be one of the statistical leaders in the state in a few different categories but like with everyone else in this article, it will all come down to how she is used by her coaching staff. If they can set her up for success, this is a name you will be hearing a lot about as we get into the 2024-2025 season.

A prospect that is a new addition to this 2027 Class, that put on an eye-opening Freshman year is Nat Linder of North Mahaska High School. Linder has two things that all coaches love, a high motor and natural height. She is listed at 6’1 and is agile in most of her movements. Right now her talent is very raw but she has the capabilities to become a monster on the boards over her next three seasons, as well as scoring the ball at a high rate because she will be cleaning up the messes of her teammates in the paint area. There are some really talented prospects in this Class that have size and Linder is in that conversation. If she works on the correct things moving forward and her team runs an offense that can get in her positions to keep it simple and be successful, she should thrive over the next three years. Especially against the competition she has to play in that conference. If she takes it seriously, she could put up some of the best numbers throughout the state for her position.
