We haven’t been able to see Hallie Vander Weerdt compete for almost a year now due to injury but she should be back this AAU season and whenever she takes the court, she is someone that you have to worry about if you trying to get into the teeth of their defense. Vander Weerdt is a 6’1 Forward with coordinated footwork, a soft touch, and better than average reach. She knows how to clean up the glass on both ends of the floor and she always makes a great effort of getting down the floor in the blink of an eye. Whenever you are competing against someone like that, you need to prepared for blocked shots to happen near the hoop. Vander Weerdt knows her size and knows that she doesn’t need to jump to block someone’s shot so she likes to stay down when the shot clock starts to tick down and that makes things very challenging for the opponent.

Hallie Vander Weerdt Hallie Vander Weerdt 6'1" | PF/SF Southeast Polk | 2027 State IA was hurt the past season so we didn’t get a chance to see what she could do but this is around the time that she should be getting back active on the court and she is still considered one of the best Forwards within the 2027 Class. Prior to the injury, Weerdt was grabbing interest from all levels, from all over the Midwest. Overall, she has true size at 6’1 and she has better coordination than most at her position. She has demonstrated in the past that her soft touch and reach are too much for anyone under 6’0 unless they can use her physicality to attempt to push her around to move her off the blocks as much as possible. It’s going to take a few weeks to figure out who is really interested in Vander Weerdt again but I have a feeling that won’t be an issue. Once everyone witnesses that she is back to her old self running down the court, the rest will be history. She just needs to keep doing her thing within the process.

*There is an asterisks to start this because to my understanding Hallie Vander Weerdt Hallie Vander Weerdt 6'1" | PF/SF Southeast Polk | 2027 State IA might be out for the entire 2025-2026 season but there should be some hope that she might be able to come back during the Playoffs if the Rams can take things to the State Tournament. Vander Weerdt has natural size at 6’1, lengthy arms to pair along with it and she has steadily grown in her game over the last few years up to this point. She is fairly disciplined under neath the hoop on both sides of the ball and I think she is only going to continue to get better once she is back from injury. If Vander Weerdt were completely healthy at this point she would be a top five producer from the Forward position out of the CIML and that speaks volumes within one of the best conferences in the Country.

Hallie Vander Weerdt Hallie Vander Weerdt 6'1" | PF/SF Southeast Polk | 2027 State IA ended her AAU season this Summer due to injury but that doesn’t change the fact that she is a Dawg within our Top 50 still. Vander Weerdt, a 6’1 Forward, received her first D1 offer prior to falling to injury. This offer came from UNI and speaks to the promise that Vander Weerdt has as a competitor. She is a prospect that moves really well for being 6’1. Those two things combined can take you a lot of places and when you add her coordination, soft touch, and knowledge of the game – you really start to see where UNI is coming from. I’m not sure that Vander Weerdt will make it back this Winter high school season but if not, she will be ready to roll come AAU Spring 2026.

One of the biggest stock-risers out of the State of Iowa right now is Hallie Vander Weerdt Hallie Vander Weerdt 6'1" | PF/SF Southeast Polk | 2027 State IA of SE Polk high sChool and AIA AAU. Vander Weerdt is coming off of two D1 offers the past few months but she won’t settle there. She is going to continue to work on her craft, hopefully stacking up some more as time goes on. HVW comes in between 6’1 and 6’2, she plays well under the bucket with her size and strength, and she understands her job when she takes the floor. Offensively, When she can take time to make a move, she is extremely tough to stop and that is notable. She just needs to stay locked in mentally and the rest will be history.

Following this past weekend, Hallie Vander Weerdt Hallie Vander Weerdt 6'1" | PF/SF Southeast Polk | 2027 State IA of All Iowa Attack and SE Polk High School received her first college offer from Maryville. Maryville see’s the promise in Vander Weerdt. She steps into the Spring as a 6’1 SF out of the 2027 Class with a higher ceiling than most. She already possesses a high level of coordination and athletic ability along with her height, which is what is going to really interest collegiate coaches now and moving forward. She has a presence by the basket that you have to pay attention to on both sides of the ball with her fundamental base. This spring HVW has been controlling what she can, when she can and been productive in her efforts. If she continues to keep on this trajectory, it’ll be interesting to see where she ends up.

I saw a different type of game out of Hallie Vander Weerdt Hallie Vander Weerdt 6'1" | PF/SF Southeast Polk | 2027 State IA on Saturday morning in her contest against Norwalk. Vander Weerdt played one of the best games of her career so far in my eyes, showing that she can do a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor as she stands at 6’1. She was using a powerful drop step to sit and seal her opponent for easy buckets next to the rim, she was protecting the rim at a high rate against Norwalks impressive offensive roster, all while she was also putting the ball on the floor and getting to the middle of the defense for a bucket or she would drive middle to hit an open teammate with an assist on the opposite side. All in all, if Vander Weerdt keeps production and play like this going, SEP is going to be a dangerous team come Playoff time.

Another individual that has some height and promise to her game, that I’m going to be keeping an eye on during this travel season is Hallie Vander Weerdt Hallie Vander Weerdt 6'1" | PF/SF Southeast Polk | 2027 State IA of Southeast Polk. From all of my accounts of watching her compete, there is a lot that she could build on moving forward. She demonstrates a soft touch on the ball, knowledge of where to move around on the floor, and balanced footwork once she catches near the block. If the Guards around her can penetrate against their initial defender, Vander Weerdt does a great job of stepping up and making herself available. Defensively, she could be an “X-factor.” If she stays disciplined and stays down on shot attempts, she could get her hands on a ton of shots near the rim. Everyone at this age has a long way to go but what I’ve seen out of Vander Weerdt so far has been noteworthy.
