Here is a look at five of the top rebounders who posted solid numbers during their sophomore seasons. Each of these five finished with at least 180 rebounds. It is far from an all-inclusive list and more top rebounders from this class will be featured in future reports.
Avery Scott Avery Scott 6'0" | C Stanton County | 2026 State KS , 6’1”, F, Stanton County
Scott finished her season with a total of 265 rebounds in 20 games. That translates to an average of 13.3 rebounds per contest. The Stanton County sophomore scored 15.7 points per game and cleaned the glass on the offensive end to the tune of six rebounds. All those offensive boards surely led to several cheap put backs and second chance scoring opportunities.
Olivia Stein Olivia Stein 6'0" | PF Ingalls | 2026 State KS , 6’0”, F, Ingalls
Stein is a dual-sport prospect who should get opportunities to play basketball or volleyball at the next level. She averaged a double-double over the course of the season with 13.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Se led the Bulldogs with a season total of 236 total rebounds 103 of which were of the offensive variety.
Shamari Lewis Shamari Lewis 6'0" | PF Liberal | 2026 State KS , 5’10”, PF, Liberal
The Liberal Redskins had a sophomore forward who grabbed 200 rebounds in 22 games played. Lewis fell just short of averaging a double-double for the season with final tallies of 13.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per contest. The lanky and bouncing forward gets her rebounds with her hustle and speed.
Lani Spear, 5’11”, F/C, Dighton
Spear averaged 8.3 rebounds and 9.6 points in 23 games played for the Hornets. She finished with a total of 191 total rebounds. She did most of her damage on the defensive glass with more than a two to one ratio of defensive to offensive rebounds.
Paityn Fritz Paityn Fritz 6'2" | C Salina South | 2026 State KS , 6’2”, F, Salina South
Fritz is a two-sport prospect for the Cougars, but I have a feeling she will end up playing basketball in college. She is a three-level scorer and grabbed a total of 183 total rebounds. She averaged 13.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. Fritz handles the ball well enough to play forward or guard, and is physical enough to play in the paint. She made 13 three-point field goals that season, so she is also a threat to score from deep.
