I spoke with an anonymous assistant coach inside the district about the season that was had in 3A-District 5. The coach gives a unique perspective as they have to try figure out how to put a gameHeritage head and shoulders above everyone else, but there is some really nice up and coming talent in the district. Here are our anonymous coach's thoughts:

MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='810476' first='Carsyn' last='Swaney'], Heritage, '24

MVP Runner Up: [player_tooltip player_id='409073' first='Chloe' last='Heath'], Heritage, '25

MVP Honorable Mention: Peyton Rollins, South Doyle '27

Dycus' Opinion: Swaney fills the role of "best player" for Heritage really well. Swaney doesn't feel the need to prove anything to anyone...and I'm becoming more and more convinced that she only cares about winning.....and could care less about stats. When you look at her numbers you see a really high IQ kid. The effort and defensive numbers are always there. Offensively, Swaney gives her club what they need, when they need it.

Dycus' Thoughts: You see the future of the district here as you can anticipate Heritage remaining a 3A power, and South Doyle is coming on fast with the emergence of their youngersters, as well as one of the best '27s in the state ([player_tooltip player_id='619788' first='Payton' last='Rollins']) and a 6'0 [player_tooltip player_id='410170' first='Cloey' last='Wade'] that came on strong this year! [player_tooltip player_id='409073' first='Chloe' last='Heath'] will likely be the best player is the district next year as she simply different.

Dycus' Opinion: You see a few Heritage kids we've been on all year in [player_tooltip player_id='821752' first='Faith' last='Morris'] (shooter!) and [player_tooltip player_id='513244' first='Aleyah' last='Smyth']. Just further proves how deep this Heritage club is. You also see a couple Lenior City kids jump back into the mix. LC had a tremendous season last year, and dropped off a bit this season, but [player_tooltip player_id='821857' first='Rylee' last='Boling'] and [player_tooltip player_id='514128' first='Kara' last='Gresham'] are both high level kids.

Dycus' Opinion:

Lol....yeah. [player_tooltip player_id='619788' first='Payton' last='Rollins'] has been making a name for herself since middle school, and she exploded onto the scene this year with no doubt or hesitation. She knows she one of the best of the floor at all times, and she carries herself like so.
