Therefore, this first scouting report from Emporia’s historic William L. White Auditorium combines players from the first two contests.
In first-round action, Andover knocked off Blue Valley Southwest and Seaman defeated a familiar squad from De Soto.
Here is a look at four athletes from both games that caught my attention.
Aliyah Green Aliyah Green 6'0" | PF Andover | 2025 State KS , 6’0”, PF, Andover, ‘25
Green was impressive in the paint and outpowered the Timberwolf posts when Andover needed a big score. Green has a special combination of size and speed. Green had the first double-double of the tournament scoring 12 points and cleaning the glass for 14 rebounds. It was her best performance in the three Andover games I scouted.
Bella Bouddhara Bella Bouddhara 5'7" | PG Andover | 2027 State KS , 5’7”, PG, Andover, ‘27
Bouddhara stepped up her game as Andover lost starting guard Amelya Vance Amelya Vance 5'4" | CG Andover | 2025 State KS early in the game. The freshman guard canned three early 3-point field goals in the first half to set the tone for the Trojans. She ended up scoring a game-high 19 points. The Trojan freshman showed glimpses of her future scoring potential as she shot 6-of-11 from the field, 3-of-4 from 3-point range, and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line.
Lilly Unruh, 5’7”, G/F, Blue Valley Southwest, ‘25
Unruh is an aggressive athlete who can score from deep or in transition. She is versatile and can play multiple spots on the floor. She scored a team-high 17 points and converted on one 3-point field goal. The Blue Valley Southwest junior shot fifty percent from the field in her final game of the season. She also played a major impact on the defensive end of the floor collecting five steals.
Ashley Chaput, 5’11”, F, Blue Valley Southwest, ‘24
The Timberwolves were missing one of their post players so Chaput needed to put in some extra work on the boards. She understands how to block out and get leverage to clean the glass. She finished with a team-high 10 rebounds in the loss to Andover.
Anna Becker Anna Becker 5'9" | CG Topeka Seaman | 2025 State KS , 5’11”, G/F, Seaman, ‘25
I am starting to think that Becker plays her best games when I am in the gym. She was once again impressive for the Vikings. She is a forward who can handle the ball like a guard. She can shoot the ball like a guard and rebounds like a forward. The Seaman junior finished with 15 points and four rebounds.
Maddie Gragg Maddie Gragg 5'11" | SG Seaman | 2026 State KS , 5’11”, SG, Seaman, ‘26
Gragg carried the Vikings early in the game. She has a sweet jump shot and is physical when she drives. She finished the game with 14 points and eight rebounds. Gragg was solid from the free-throw line shooting 5-for-6. She also added two steals and two assists to her stat line.
Violet Conley Violet Conley 5'10" | SF De Soto | 2024 State KS , 5’11”, PF, De Soto, ‘24
De Soto’s lanky post registered a double-double in the loss. She scored 18 points and grabbed 11 boards. Conley had a solid game in the paint for De Soto. She understands how to draw contact and cashed in when she got fouled. Conley shot 10-for-12 from the free-throw line. I was impressed at how Conley maintained her composure in one of the worst officiated state tournament games I have ever witnessed.
Makenzie Farmer Makenzie Farmer 5'9" | SF De Soto | 2025 State KS , 5’9”, PF, De Soto, ‘25
Farmer is the player who drove the Wildcats’ offense early. She can score from three levels and hustles to get loose balls and long rebounds. The De Soto junior is all arms and legs. She finished with a team-high eight rebounds and chipped in four points. I would like to see her add some upper-body strength during the off-season.
