So as the month of March begins to close, while watching the NCAA Tournament, preparing for the Opening Day of Major League Baseball, and updating player rankings on Prep Dig and Prep Redzone, I want to spend the next two weeks reflecting on some of the statistical leaders from the recently concluded prep season.

Let me begin by sharing a report on a handful of the top 3-point shooters from the Class of 2027.

Lilly Hoffman, 5'8”, PG, Udall

Hoffman unofficially led all freshman (from teams who used MaxPreps to record stats) in made 3-point field goals. The Udall Eagle point guard averaged 16.2 points per game. In 22 games played, she made 64 total 3-point baskets and shot 40 percent from deep.

[player_tooltip player_id='723402' first='Taylor' last='McCarty'], 5'8”, PG, Cheylin

McCarty started off her high school career by raining buckets. She scored 23.8 points per game for the Cougars. She converted on 62-of-187 three-point field goals. McCarty is quick and also works for rebounds as she finished with an average of 10 rebounds per contest. You can do the math! She averaged a double-double over the course of the season.

Avery Kauffman, 5'4”, PG, Central Christian

Another Cougar guard, this one from Central Christian, had an impressive freshman season. Kauffman averaged 11 points per contest for the private school in Hutchinson. In 21 games played, she made 52 field goals from deep.

[player_tooltip player_id='836279' first='Reece' last='Stickney'], 5'6”, CG, Ellinwood

Give credit to the coaches of the Eagles and Cougars who shared their teams' stats. The Ellinwood Eagles featured a freshman sharp shooter who connected on 42 three-point baskets. In 21 games played, the quick guard averaged 11.1 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per contest.

Allie Sifford, 5'7”, G/F, Northeast Kansas Nighthawks

Sifford made 40 field goals from 3-point range for the Nighthawks, which is a homeschool team in Topeka. Sifford scored 9.4 points pe game in 25 Nighthawks' games.

[player_tooltip player_id='932979' first='Bennett' last='Jacobs'], 5'4”, PG, Ellinwood

Ellinwood had two of the top 3-point shooters from the Class of 2027. Jacobs made 38 baskets from behind the arc. She averaged 7.9 points per game and was half of a deadly shooting duo with Stickney. JUCO coaches in the western part of the State should put the Ellinwood pair on their radars.
