Powers Catholic, Alma, Freeland, and 2022 state finalist Frankenmuth make up the bracket. Let's take a closer look at these matchups and the impact players who will be counted on to lead the way. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Alma (19-5) vs. Flint Powers Catholic (21-3) 5:30 PM, Alma HS</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Alma has the advantage of playing at home tonight as they host a Powers Catholic team whose only losses have been to Grand Blanc, Midland Dow, and Ypsi Arbor Prep. Alma does have a quality win against Freeland this season and will need to play their best basketball to keep up with this fast-paced Powers team. Both teams finished third in their conferences this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Freeland (21-3) vs. Frankenmuth (22-2) 7 PM, Alma HS</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Two of Freeland's three losses came against Frankenmuth this season: a combined 7 points. Teams like Howell and Haslett won in the playoffs despite losing twice to the same opponent during the regular season; I wonder if Freeland can do the same. Frankenmuth won the Tri-Valley Conference Red with an undefeated record in league play. Their only losses this season came against two State champion level opponents in Rockford and Goodrich. Karie has the knock down outside shooting and finishing moves to cause indigestion for any defense. Karie can put up big numbers against top teams; she had 33 pts in a win against Chelsea.
