Last weekend was the annual Shamrock Classic in Westfield, Indiana. Many of the top players and teams were in action, creating a lot of entertaining games. I was able to watch a lot of action all day Saturday, but I focused primarily on 2025s and 2026s. Below is a look at one last handful of ladies who also stood out with their play, but I didn't quite know which category to put them in, though they did deserve mentioning.

[player_tooltip player_id='295753' first='Laila' last='Abdurraqib'], 2025, 5-7 PG, Lady Gym Rats Platinum EYBL
- Laila has always been a joy to watch, and she has been able to sustain consistent health on the court lately, so I am excited to see what comes of it in her recruiting this Spring & Summer. She is a tough-nosed, hard-working, gritty ballplayer. She is strong, quick, and athletic. She has a nice poise and leadership quality about her, and she helped Lawrence Central to a State championship last month. She is a true floor general, plus she can shoot/score.

[player_tooltip player_id='366794' first='Madi' last='Allen'], 2025, 5-9 SG, [program_tooltip program_id='714250' first='Indiana' last='Pride'] Attack
- Over the past 18-24 months, I have seen a huge difference in Madi's play. She looks stronger, more explosive, and all-around smoother as a ballplayer. She handles it well in transition and can initiate the offense, but she has also developed her scoring ability significantly. She used to be more of a North/South driver, but now she can change directions in traffic, pull-up, or even knock down the perimeter jumper more consistently.

[player_tooltip player_id='468535' first='Mariah' last='Kenter-Garrett'], 2025, 5-7 PG, West Virginia Thunder-Garrett UA Rise
- This point guard is one of the fastest kids in the state, regardless of class. She runs by people in transition...while handling the basketball. She splits defenses, gets to the basket, and draws a lot of fouls from behind. But you have to really watch her at the defensive end of the floor, because she can change games there with her quick feet and tenacity. She is a next-level defender who can dictate where her matchup goes, and she prides herself at it.

[player_tooltip player_id='295796' first='Taylor' last='Van Meter'], 2025, 5-11 SF, [program_tooltip program_id='715952' first='Indiana' last='Elite Havoc'] Gold
- Taylor is a younger sister, and she kind of took the best qualities of each of her older sisters and is making herself a complete ballplayer. Taylor has really nice length, wiry strength, and she's a versatile all-around athlete. She can go off the bounce and finish through contact or play in the mid-post, but she has also really worked on her perimeter jumper and is a dangerous threat from outside. I also like her defensive versatility.

[player_tooltip player_id='486473' first='Bailey' last='Hape'], 2026, 5-10 SF, [program_tooltip program_id='712566' first='Indiana' last='Elite'] Prime 3SSB
- Since I last saw her in July, Bailey looks noticeably stronger, much more physical inside the arc, but she's also catching and shooting it with a quicker release and more instinctively. In the past, she has shown more of a point forward quality, but with this [program_tooltip program_id='712566' first='Indiana' last='Elite'] team, she is showing her effectiveness as a wing shooter/scorer. I have always liked her motor and her willingness to get inside and battle for rebounds, plus she defends with effort.

Maddy Wethington, 2026, 5-7 CG, [program_tooltip program_id='714250' first='Indiana' last='Pride']-Duke
- When I first saw Maddy last Fall at a showcase event, she was solid. But last weekend, and with Danville over the Winter, she looked much more instinctive and assertive, almost more comfortable in general. Maybe showcases aren't her environment, but she was really good playing on or off the ball for her Pride team a week and a half ago. She was aggressive scoring it off the bounce, she has touch outside, but she can also create and facilitate.
