Kiasia Allen Kiasia Allen 5'5" | CG The Independent School | 2027 State KS , 5’5″, SG, The Independent School – In a the Panthers’ 2A sub semi-final game against Garden Plain she shot and scored the ball well, including hitting a pair of threes. She led all scorers with 16 points. She showed the ability to create her own perimeter shot as well as to score through contact. She is a smart, capable rebounder who elevates well. A player who anticipates a teammate’s shot and gets into position for the offensive board ahead of it. I would like to see her recognize quicker when zone defenses leave space open, inviting basket attacks and cutters to that space.
Zoey Buckner-Franklin Zoey Buckner-Franklin 5'3" | PF The Independent School | 2027 State KS , 5’3″, PG, The Independent School – Against Garden Plain in a 2A sub-state semi-final Buckner-Franklin took advantage of her solid build, smarts, and handles to create shots off the catch and score off the bounce. A good free-throw shooter she went 4/5 on the way to piling up 14 points. Defensively she showed that same quickness and intelligence. She walled up well rather than invite a foul challenging drivers.
Chloe Hartzler Chloe Hartzler 5'5" | CG Wichita South | 2027 State KS , 5’5″, PG, Wichita South – Hartzler was a big part of the Titan rotation in a 6A sub-state final loss to Washburn Rural. Backing up at point guard and playing on the wing she showed intelligence in a variety of situations. Beat off the bounce, she did not compound things with a desperate foul but stayed with the play and prepped for a rebound. She showed very good handles against a very quick, experienced back court. She moved well into space on the offensive end and played well within the team’s offensive and defensive systems. Hartzler did not score much but took good shots when they were there and showed herself to be a very good rebounding guard.
Tori Tustian, 5’5″, PG, Buhler – Brought quickness and penetration ability against Scott City zone. Able to create her own shot off the bounce. Handles with confidence. Plays behind a bunch of upperclassmen but due to injuries got her shot in third quarter. As she gains more varsity experience she will recognize and handle tricks and traps defenses will spring. One to watch.
