VHSL Class 4 Title Game: Woodgrove Vs Hampton

Hampton started the game cold and turned the ball over and the team was saved with a super athletic block by 5'5 [player_tooltip player_id='868603' first='Dreyana' last='Foster'] on transition defense and was only able to muster four free throws in that stretch of the game. [player_tooltip player_id='332117' first='Angelina' last='Nice'] had a nice stroke in the corner for a three point shot with a good pass from [player_tooltip player_id='735525' first='Amaya' last='Ramey']. The very next possession [player_tooltip player_id='815660' first='Lyla' last='Ames'] came off the bench answered with a corner three of her own and then [player_tooltip player_id='332117' first='Angelina' last='Nice'] hit a three in the corner as well. After a miss shot Hamptons [player_tooltip player_id='868603' first='Dreyana' last='Foster'] had a good transition layup off a steal and that was followed by another [player_tooltip player_id='304784' first='Kaliya' last='Perry'] free throw jump shot. Woodgrove took advantage of the size of [player_tooltip player_id='332117' first='Angelina' last='Nice'] with a smaller player on her she went right to the post with a lay up! The Wolverines had a big edge on the glass Nice followed up her score with a lay up on the offensive glass for two. Hampton had a mini run with two back to back scores from [player_tooltip player_id='868603' first='Dreyana' last='Foster'] and [player_tooltip player_id='304784' first='Kaliya' last='Perry']. Woodgrove answered with two momentum killing three point shots from [player_tooltip player_id='735525' first='Amaya' last='Ramey'] and [player_tooltip player_id='332117' first='Angelina' last='Nice'] the&nbsp;and at&nbsp;the end of the half was Woodgrove up 29-21 both teams shot 33% in the 2nd quarter.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Starting 3rd of the third Hampton missed a shot and [player_tooltip player_id='260613' first='Sadie' last='Shores'] grabbed the rebound and went coast to coast for a layup. [player_tooltip player_id='815660' first='Lyla' last='Ames'] got back in the scoring action with a low post layup. Then Woodgrove went on a run and [player_tooltip player_id='735525' first='Amaya' last='Ramey'] dropped a sick crossover dribble for a layup and that was followed by two jump shots by [player_tooltip player_id='332117' first='Angelina' last='Nice'] and [player_tooltip player_id='260613' first='Sadie' last='Shores'] that stretched it out to a 15 point lead! Out of the timeout Hampton hit two back to back big time three's to cut into the lead by [player_tooltip player_id='868635' first='Jiana' last='Price'] and [player_tooltip player_id='868658' first='Jakyra' last='Bienaime']. [player_tooltip player_id='304784' first='Kaliya' last='Perry'] cut into the lead some more with a big time offensive rebound that erased the biggest lead of the game and it was cut to a 6 point lead. After a strong comeback Hampton had some careless turnovers towards&nbsp;the end of the quarter the lead after the 3rd was 11 for Woodgrove.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Start of the 4th [player_tooltip player_id='304784' first='Kaliya' last='Perry'] got her 4th offensive rebound and her game high 17th rebound for a put back. On the next possession [player_tooltip player_id='868603' first='Dreyana' last='Foster'] hit two big time three's in the fourth&nbsp;quarter and ended the game with 14 points. Every time Hampton made a run Woodgrove was able to hit a big shot after the lead was cut to 6 [player_tooltip player_id='755783' first='Lyla' last='Brown'] drained a three and that was followed up by a three by [player_tooltip player_id='735525' first='Amaya' last='Ramey'] who had a MVP type&nbsp;of game with 26 points 16 rebounds 3 steals and two blocks.
