Players to Watch
Sayer is on the verge of a big time stock rising offseason at the grassroots level and her three-level scoring will be on display as she can really go. She is a do it all guard that rebounds well and can step out and shoot the ball. She is also a double-double type of a player as well.
Johnson willl be playing for AIM and she is a player that puts in work and at times does the little things that might not always show up in the stat sheet. She closes out and defends well in the perimeter but also inside. She is fundamentally sound in the post and when she is defending and boxing out. Her rim running attracts defenders that open things up for perimeter shooters.
Skinner will likely be more of a lead ball handler as she enters the club season but her ability to play all over the floor is what will make her so hard to coral. She is elite all over the floor and she can virtually get any shot she wants. Looking forward to seeing her elevate her game and this is game 1 for her this weekend and she has had some time to rest and recover from the season so she might just go off.
Youngsters to Watch
The Utah Summit player had a solid freshman year and she could be a big time presence in the paint as she is long and can alter and block shots. If she is able to get one on ones and clean looks she might have herself a weekend.
Class of 2028 is here and Villa might be among some of the notables looking to show what they can do. Villa has soft hands and knows how to keep that ball high on finishes. She might be 6’4 or 6’5 and she is just scratching the surface on her development. She will be a presence in the paint and defending her is going to be a challenge. Look for a lot of zone and double teams but if her passing is on point she will elevate her ability to pick teams apart with her passing.
Highlights
Thompson has been playing with a high motor and you can see that she is ready to go as she has the ability to slash to the rim and make different moves to finish at a high level. Her shooting continues to improve from midrange and beyond the arc. Look for her to assert herself quickly this weekend.
