Continue ReadingThere were so many good players at the Showdown that I felt like a kid at the candy store while jotting down notes about the numerous prospects in the building. There were players of all classes and of all positions that’ll stood out. The 2025 class of guards was loaded and “it might be another 20 years” before we witness a phenomenon like this again. Well, that might be a little too much hyperbole, but there were a lot of talented guards in the building and the abundance of 2025 guards appears to have “eclipsed” all the other class-position combinations at the Sunshine Showdown. In this article we hilight more 2025 guards who performed well at the tournament.
Sofia Munoz Sofia Munoz 5'7" | CG Central Pointe Christian | 2025 State FL was a standout at the Sunshine showdown for sure. The guard can handle the ball and is a confident three point shooter. Munoz has a great feel for the game. She can score in transition filling the lanes and attacking the rim or stopping and popping from the midrange or three point area.
Savannah Ferguson Savannah Ferguson 5'10" | SG Seminole | 2025 State FL (2025) played well and shot the three ball very well. Shooting the three ball is a staple in Ferguson’s game as well as being extremely competitive. Ferguson plays with a lot of energy. Ferguson is a player who loves to attack the rim and can create shots for her teammates if the defense collapses on her.
Serene Exalant Serene Exalant 5'9" | CG Timber Creek | 2025 State FL (2025) was impressive with her speed and athleticism on the court. Most things that Exalant does on the defensive end are excellent. She puts extreme pressure on the ball and creates a lot of havoc and a lot of turnovers. I watched the second half of one of her games and she may have caused 3 or 4 turnovers in one half. Offensively, she can get to the rim off the dribble and she creates a lot of scoring opportunities off of her steals and deflections.
Brianna Behn Brianna Behn 5'8" | CG Cardinal Mooney | 2025 State FL was under control on the floor and played like the floor general that she is. She is a leader on the floor. She played with a lot of poise and confidence and was laser focused down the stretch. Behn can shoot from all three levels of the floor and loves to play on the attack when she is in transition. Behn has very good ball handling skills and can pass it as well. She can feed the post and drive and dish to the open teammate.
Kalese Salter Kalese Salter 5'4" | PG Tampa Bay Tech | 2025 State FL played very well and just let the game come to her. She is fast and athletic and uses these attributes to get to the rim and get past her defenders. Salter handled the ball with poise and control and had some great finishes at the rim. She shot the ball well in the midrange area and had a nice shooting stroke from behind the three point line. Salter-2023 played well last year and even went viral, but Salter- 2024 is a beast with a lot more tools in her bag.
Khalia Woodley Khalia Woodley 5'6" | SG Alonso | 2025 State FL (2025) looked good out there. She showed the ability to shoot the three and was very good and utilizing her speed and quickness to get to the rim. She was impressive with her ability to shoot off the catch and off the dribble. Woodley also did a good job of handling the ball in the face of pressure.
