Mitchell was explosive off the dribble, wait, in transition as well as she had no problem getting by the defender. She saw the floor, made good decisions and her energy trickled over to her teammates. Her defensive pressure was solid, both in the set as well as baseline to baseline but her mental toughness was a huge plus

Rei-Brown was acting like that hit song from that guy with her surname “I Feel Good” and she put together a very impressive few minutes that helped change the momentum and put their game out of reach. Her “on the ball” defense, her scoring off the dribble as well as her dropping the 3 ball, ala “catch and shoot” JUST DID IT for me

Amiya Brooks
Brooks is a “long and athletic” guard who read the floor very well and that led to, you guessed it. playing the passing lane. She scored or dished after the steal, she also scored off the dribble in the set but her pull-up jumper was also nice. She got in there and hit the boards and her defense was solid

Blackmer would have made my “NEW FACES” list but I decided this would be better because she too did some things that got her team going. Her “on the ball” defense, her breaking up plays tying the defender up was really nice yet she’s fearless and scored off the dribble, even after contact
Smith impressed off the top with her “on the ball” pressure coupled with her quick hands that led to steals. She did a good job setting the defender up by using a deceptive first step to attack and finish but she also showed she could creation to get her shot off
Brannon went completely off on opening day as she took the defender from wherever she wanted to score off the dribble, many times after contact. She always goes hard on both ends, her defensive pressure baseline to baseline was there both days as was her court vision
Highlights
Hernandez is a long and athletic guard who is “feisty” on both ends of the court. Her defensive pressure helped to create turnovers, she also did a good job of catching the defender off balance to score off the dribble. She even used a slight HEZ to drop the jumper
Nieto applied “on the ball” heat baseline to baseline so much that her defense was smothering and it helped to not create turnovers, but those turnovers ended up in baskets going the other way. She did a good job handling the ball under pressure and her court vision was solid
Riojas played within herself and showed she understood how to get hers in the flow. She also showed that if you gave her an inch, she could drop it from deep. Well technically she didn’t even need an inch at times because her “catch and shoot” was affective. She saw the floor and did a good job defensively
Flores gave me something I love to see yet don’t see enough of that’s “playing the passing lane”. After the steal, she handled the ball to score or dish, her court vision also stood out in the set yet she also did a good job attacking the basket and using solid body control on her finishes

Harris is closing out this segment like she closed out games on opening day and “on the ball” pressure gave me a BOOST but she also did a good job scoring off the dribble, well scoring or dishing, her court vision in the set was nice and she dropped it from outside
