Memorial Day Shootout: The Jackson 8

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Memorial Day Shootout at Jackson College on May 25th and 26th featured top teams from the state and many familiar faces who stepped up and earned their recognition this weekend. Allison's hard work has paid off as she muscled her way to the rim with drives through defenders and finished in contested situations. She scored with pivot moves down low and shot very efficiently from beyond the arc hitting multiple 3's. Allison has great vision to make skip passes across the court and used her anticipation to steal passes. She finished strong off two in the paint, scored a full-speed layup in transition, and extended her range to bury a 3 outside. Zoey used an excellent seal in the low post and demonstrated her ability to dish a one-handed accurate left-handed pass. She swiped the ball away and put her foot down to score a contested finish off two in the paint. Ella has a combination of dribble moves including an inside-out step back. She buried a wing 3, used a drop step to score a floater off two, and outworked defenders for multiple offensive rebounds. She froze her defender with a stutter dribble then blew by to score a floater off the glass through a foul. According to my count, Sophia knocked down an impressive five 3's in one game. It felt like Deja Vu because she just kept hitting the shots from different spots. Kendra would not be stopped on the offensive glass, she outworked others to rebound and score countless put-backs. She scored layups and utilized a seal then spun and quickly crossed over her defender. Kendra attacked full speed then used a eurostep move to draw a foul then knocked down a free throw. It looked like Olivia was doing a rebounding drill by herself because she kept high-pointing the ball off the glass and demonstrating elite elevation. She stripped the ball away on defense and dove on the floor for 50/50 balls. Heidi caught the passes in stride and finished full speed layups with control.
