Notes from Atlantic City (May Live Period)

The weekend in AC was overflowing with talent from places as far as Minnesota and even north of the border! Our girls from the Garden State represented and showed why girls basketball needs Jersey!   [player_tooltip player_id='583947' first='Kiera' last='McKown'] | [program_tooltip program_id='714654' first='NJ' last='Shoreshots']   She was the difference-maker in a big win vs Lightning Elite Flynn. Opened with fire, scoring two quick-hitting layups in the first minute of the game and never looked back. Menacing presence on defense; broad shoulders & long reach to reject shots.   [player_tooltip player_id='525475' first='Kimi' last='Sayson'] | [program_tooltip program_id='714654' first='NJ' last='Shoreshots']   Probably the smallest player on the floor when the Shoreshots beat Lightning Flynn but also probably the grittiest! Confident 3-point shooter who buries them comfortably from the wing. She was zipping passes all around the floor and putting her vision on full display. Small player who is a big deal!   [player_tooltip player_id='964999' first='Erica' last='Reed'] | NJ Pirates   The Pirates scrapped out a win vs the Germantown Lady Panthers and Erica had a lot to do with that. High percentage shots from the mid-range. Knockdown shooter who didn't hesitate to pull-up and sink them. A player who believes in herself and knows what she brings to the table.   [player_tooltip player_id='600914' first='Amber' last='Wooding'] | AUF Lady Hawks   Intense, speedy guard who helped her team pull out the win against Team Swish. There is simply no quit in her motor. She applied herself on both sides of the ball; got to the rim at will & put the clamps on defensively.   [player_tooltip player_id='651506' first='Cat' last='Caro'] | AUF Lady Hawks   Small in stature but plays with a lot of heart; big fight to her game. She does an admirable job battling down low with the bigs and rebounding from the guard spot. She stepped in to her mid-range shot beautifully against Team Swish.   [player_tooltip player_id='651479' first='Noelle' last='Grady'] | [program_tooltip program_id='774068' first='NJ' last='Panthers']   She was a game-changer in a win against I-90 Elite. She knocked down a big 3 ball to send it to OT & then scored the first points in OT around the rim. In a win against RIBC, she handled the ball with confidence and care, sizing up her opponent from the top of the key and penetrating the defense. Strong frame, great physicality.   [player_tooltip player_id='959834' first='Sophia' last='Rollan'] | [program_tooltip program_id='774068' first='NJ' last='Panthers']   Her activeness on both sides of the ball stood out to me this weekend. She seemed to be everywhere at once on defense, applying pressure and doing her best to force the opponent to cough up the ball. Quick rotations and movement off the ball to get set up for a good shot.   [player_tooltip player_id='825463' first='Rhyan' last='Watt'] | [program_tooltip program_id='714664' first='Team' last='Sharp']   She was clicking on all cylinders in a blowout win vs Jersey Pride. Virtually unstoppable on the fast break. She dropped in more than a few baskets that came as a result of electric rim-running. Lockdown defense led to transition offense.   [player_tooltip player_id='816416' first='Emily' last='Mattson'] | [program_tooltip program_id='714664' first='Team' last='Sharp']   In wins over Jersey Pride and Montreal Prospects, Emily put for the a tremendous effort. Quick around the court. Freed herself from the defense & got open to get off good shots from around the perimeter & at the basket. Dangerous 3-point shooter. Aggressive dribble-drive & strong finish with her right.   [player_tooltip player_id='414246' first='Emani' last='Resto'] | NJ Vols   She gave it her all against a very good Lady Raiders squad. Effective ball fake & mid-range pop. She did a nice job fighting through the double-team & escaping traps. On defense, she applied a suffocating full court press and moved well to stay in front of the ball.   [player_tooltip player_id='333305' first='Mya' last='Pauldo'] | HUrban Legends   She held it down for Twin BackCourt with Mia at USA trials. She did a little bit of everything in an ultra physical game vs BBA, from scoring to dishing to everything in between. In a big win against Philly Belles Gumbs, she showed off her supremely high hoops IQ by mixing it up on offense and suffocating opponents up at half-court on defense.   [player_tooltip player_id='878997' first='Camille' last='Wiley'] | [program_tooltip program_id='714664' first='Team' last='Sharp']   Super aggressive style in a huge victory against SLAAM Brozeski. She was relentless taking it to the rim & earning multiple trips to the charity stripe.   [player_tooltip player_id='564266' first='Lily' last='King'] | NJ Soldiers   Versatile offensive weapon in a win against Mid-Atlantic Magic. She was efficient knocking down short jumpers from the corner and straight-away 3 balls. Long & very mobile.   [player_tooltip player_id='898071' first='Reagen' last='Powell'] | NJ Soldiers   She kept her foot on the gas in the Soldiers' win against Mid-Atlantic Magic. Very aggressive & assertive on offense. Her intensity led to multiple baskets and trips to the FT line.   [player_tooltip player_id='1157952' first='Madison' last='Rorie'] | United NJ   She banked in a few jumpers and played tough around the rim on put-backs & lay-ins as United pulled out a huge victory against Western PA Bruins. Her energy was contagious.   [player_tooltip player_id='976646' first='Brianna' last='Patterson'] | [program_tooltip program_id='774068' first='NJ' last='Panthers']   Tough inside and out in a win against the AUF Lady Hawks. She popped in 3's and carved a path to the rim with sharpness and bounce.   [player_tooltip player_id='591477' first='Gandy' last='Malou-Mamel'] | [program_tooltip program_id='714654' first='NJ' last='Shoreshots']   Intimidating presence on the interior. Her defense made a world of difference in a big win against one of the event's best teams, FBC United DMC. She used every inch of her 6'5” frame to protect the rim and deter opponents on the drive.   [player_tooltip player_id='525407' first='Gianna' last='Chuffo'] | United NJ   A high volume scorer, Gianna sparked a comeback surge against Elevate NYBC that included deep 3's & ferocious takes to the hoop. Her aggressive style of play had the opponent struggling to contain her as she was fouled behind the arc and also on drives inside.   [player_tooltip player_id='559820' first='Addy' last='Platt'] | United NJ   Addy had her way with opponents, both in a win against Minnesota Suns & a tough loss to arguably the best team in AC, Team Thrill. Very aggressive dribble penetration & baseline rips. Versatile skillset & smooth dishing out dimes. Her ceiling is incredible!   [player_tooltip player_id='414395' first='Reese' last='Downey'] | NJ Soldiers   She was a nightmare for the New England Panthers on opening day. 2 steals that led to quick layups in transition and then on the following play, banged in a corner 3. She played with passion and kept the intensity high throughout.   [player_tooltip player_id='559132' first='Brielle' last='Alaba'] | [program_tooltip program_id='714654' first='NJ' last='Shoreshots']   A big win on Day 1 vs United NJ P24 was in large part because of Brielle's superb outing. She scored or assisted on several baskets in the second half to help the Shoreshots pick it up after a slow start. She ripped to the rim & got to the charity stripe for easy points, including 2 clutch free throws to ice the close 44-41 win.
