North Point vs. South River- MBCA Classic Top Performers

There is a good chance these two teams could clash this winter enroute to the state final four. A few players brought their A-games in this summer match up which saw North Point pull out a 7-point win. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Sklyar Woodyard, South River, 2025, Wing</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Skylar is a versatile and athletic wing that has excellent body control and can finish through contact with both hands. She has very good defensive instincts and quick hands. She moves well without the ball and always plays at game speed. I like the way she boxes out and holds her position. She pays attention to detail and does a lot of little things to help her team. She has range out to the 3-point line and a nice mid-range game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Samantha Clarke, South River, 2025, Guard</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Samie is a scrappy guard that excels at stealing the ball. She has a knack for getting her hands on the ball and is exceptional at playing passing lanes. She has 3-point range and good court vision. She put pressure on South River's defense all day by getting downhill and trying to score in transition or in half court sets. South River had trouble with her speed and physicality. She applied good ball pressure and showed good defensive footwork. She fought through screens and helped out on the boards. She finished the game with 10 points and showed off a nice mid-range game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1220201' first='Mya' last='Gant'], North Point, 2027, Forward</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mya has good length at 5'9" and she plays bigger than her size. She has a good back to the basket post-game, and nice footwork in the paint. She's a good finisher at the basket and has a nice turn-around jumper. She attacks the glass on both ends and looked comfortable pushing the ball up the court. She finished the game with 5 points and 5 rebounds. I'll be keeping an eye on her going forward.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
