Continue ReadingNorthwood University hosted team camp and I had the opportunity to watch many games on Saturday, June 22nd. A number of under-the-radar prospects had strong showings for their teams and here are a few who stood out during my time in the gym.
Elizabeth was a clutch performer for Okemos on both sides of the court at Northwood Team Camp. She crashed the boards to score offensive rebound put-backs and finished off two in the paint. Elizabeth created steals on defense and caught fire from beyond the arc, hitting multiple deep 3’s to put her team ahead.
Highlights
Savannah showed her toughness to play through illness at Northwood Team Camp and was still able to play great basketball for Davison. Savannah scored a strong and-one off two in the paint, deflected a pass, and blocked a shot. She demonstrated excellent footwork, using a drop-step move to force a foul. Savannah extended her shot outside and knocked down a straightaway three-pointer.
Highlights
Madi was an effective all-around player for Berkley at Northwood Team Camp. She beat her defender off the bounce to score a floater off two feet and kicked the ball out for an assist. Madi used a sweep move to drive downhill force a foul then scored two more floaters off two on her drives. Madi demonstrated a high IQ to block a shot and then avoid touching the ball as it landed out of bounds. She is a solid basketball prospect and we congratulate her on her commitment to continue her soccer career at Northern Michigan!

Cayleigh Tracy
Cayleigh Tracy
Cayleigh Tracy is an athletic center/forward who made a great impression with Berkley at Northwood Team Camp because of her defense. Cayleigh blocked many shots in the paint and guarded a quick forward extremely well without fouling. She recognized when to attempt a block or force a miss by walling up with her long arms. Cayleigh worked to secure rebounds and communicated with her teammates on the defensive end.
Samantha Hawkins
Samantha Hawkins
Samantha Hawkins contributed on both ends for Rochester Adams to help the team win on Saturday at Northwood Team Camp. She turned steals into layups, scored off two feet inside, blocked a shot, and drove past defenders to score contested layups.
Alyssa Stephens
Alyssa Stephens
Alyssa Stephens is an athletic guard who stood out with her relentless hustle and impact on the defensive end. Alyssa used her quickness to create steals and scored a left-handed layup off the turnover. She elevated high off the ground to block a shot and score an offensive rebound putback. As Alyssa develops her offensive fundamentals she will be an impact player for the Highlanders with her hustle, toughness, and effort.
