One of the busiest months of the year is right around the corner. July is a month where we have two live periods for Division One coaches to go around the country and see kids play, and it ends the bulk of AAU teams' seasons. Most importantly, it's a pivotal month in terms of recruiting. Programs may have watched these kids play multiple times over the past three months and may decide to offer players this month in particular after having a large sample size. There will likely be some commitments at the end of the month or early August, so let's look at some players to watch this month. Today, we'll focus on 25 and 26 because they are the ones drawing the most attention at this point.

[player_tooltip player_id='338952' first='Karinna' last='Trotter']

The versatility that Trotter brings to the floor is valuable. She's a 6'2 physical kid who can put the ball on the floor and do some things off the dribble. You won't find players with her skillset and physical tools often. She's shown flashes over the last three years of being a kid who can do a little of everything but has been a secondary player at DSHA with other ball-dominant guards amid a coaching change after her sophomore season. I believe she's a no-brainer scholarship-caliber player. It's just a matter of where she'll end up. Not many kids can affect the game in the ways that Trotter can.

[player_tooltip player_id='544013' first='Alahnna' last='A Simpson']

I look at Simpson and see someone who's a lot like Kenna Johnson in a perception sense. Johnson never got the credit she deserved for how productive she was at Wilmot because of the wins and losses, and I feel that Simpson has got that same treatment. However, like Johnson, Simpson has can't miss talent. She's a long 5'11 wing who can create off the dribble and use her length to create havoc on the defensive end of the floor. Whoever lands her will love what she brings to the floor as soon as her first summer workout in college.

[player_tooltip player_id='598735' first='Natalie' last='Backhaus']

The Wisconsin Dells native has continued to show flashes of brilliance on the offensive end of the floor. Backhaus is one of the most dangerous kids in her class when she catches the ball at the high post. Backhaus' ability to pass and score in traffic makes her a handful for defenses to deal with in the paint. Her skill set is unique for her position and allows her to break defenses down. Backhaus is a positionless kid who can slot into different roles on a possession-by-possession basis. She makes any team she plays on a headache to defend.

[player_tooltip player_id='533073' first='Izabel' last='Durst']

I assume there have been scholarship-level programs in contact with Durst this month. The Barneveld lefty is one of the quicker kids in her class and does an excellent job getting her team into a flow and creating good offensive possessions. She's a dangerous triple threat when she catches the ball and has given some of the top players in EYBL a hard time attempting to stay in front of her. Durst is one of my favorite small-school prospects, and I assume there will be GLIAC and GLVC programs that will also like what she does.
