Annika Johnson - "AJ is very versatile. With a lengthy wing-span she can be a nightmare for offensive players. She's highly intelligent and sees the floor well. Lastly, she can score and has a consistent jump shot that finds the bottom of the net quite often when she looks for her shots."

[player_tooltip player_id='923060' first='Libby' last='Suckert'] - "Libby is a strong forward, and posses guard skills. When she's locked in, she can score with the best of them. She has a nose for the ball and rebounds well even against bigger opponents. Another high IQ player, she's a guards best friend."

[player_tooltip player_id='459955' first='Emma' last='Osborn'] - "[player_tooltip player_id='459955' first='Emma' last='Osborn'] is a scorer. Not afraid to pull the trigger, Emma can make the defense pay if they don't get a hand up. Her ability to play from range gives an added dimension to her game as she can post up too. She can facilitate well too."

Jailin Advem - "Every team needs a Jailin Advem. Her willingness to get her teammates involved early in games opens up her offensive game. She's a great mid-range shooter and can battle inside with the best of them."

Charlie Good - "Charlie has excelled in a catch & shoot role for us. She's got a quick first step and uses her length well. Additionally, she's a smart player and has an unselfish characteristic that any team would benefit from."

Sydney Suda - "Sydney has a great feel for the game. Not only does she see the floor well, but her ability to stretch the floor from deep, prevents defenses from packing the paint. When you chase her off the 3pt line, her ability to get easy 2s gives her a great one-two punch."

Odura Issac - "Odura has a speed and quickness that is hard to replicate. The lefty can turn the corner right and finish with both hands. She excels defensively and can poses problems for opposing guards. Has a quality mid-range game."

Micah Fleck - "Another lefty, Micah is a guards guard. In other words, she has a great command of her offense game and is an excellent on-ball defender. There is no shortage of quickness and scoring. She can shoot from range or get to the basket."

Elise Becker - "Elise has made tremendous progress this AAU season. She uses her tall frame to position herself well and protects the basket which makes her a great defender. Scoring isn't her first priority, but when she gets deep in the paint, she will finish baskets with ease."

[player_tooltip player_id='502601' first='Sabrina' last='Staab'] - "Sabrina brings distance shooting and creativity to our team. When she starts knocking down 3's, they come in bunches. At her guard position, she can rebound well and provide an extra layer of defense from the guard position. She will make defenses pay if you leave her open."

Q&A with Coach Cook

PGHD: How has the club season gone for your team?

"Our season has been good. We've had some players battle back from injury, but for the most part we've been healthy. When the season started, our goal was to go to tournaments and compete. For the most part we've been able to do that. We played some good competition, which has been beneficial to us to learn about ourselves as a team and areas that we need to continue to grow in. Overall, coach Johnson and I have been very impressed with our teams chemistry and grit."

PGHD: What are a few of your team strengths?

"When healthy one of our biggest strengths is our ability to stretch defenses and bring bottom defenders out because generally speaking all of our players can shoot the outside shot. When teams try to run us off the line we have penetrating guards that can get to the hole. All in all, when we've been able to put good runs together, it's been a combination of good shooting from the outside and then playing aggressively downhill from there."

PGHD: Who is your best defender?

"I would say Annika Johnson is our best defender. She's decently tall and has a long wingspan which allows her to pick the pockets of opposing guards, and then she can also play with a pace which allows her to take advantage of weaker opponents."

PGHD: How have you overcome adversity?

"Coach Johnson and I recognize that adversity is part of the game. We try and prepare our team by having them understand that you're going to make mistakes, but how you react from those mistakes is ultimately going to determine your individual success along with the teams. We try not let our emotions get the best of us and continue to play with principles and fundamentals at the core of everything we do. The idea of competition is that you're going to play really good teams. That's just a fact. But playing good competition will prepare you for bigger challenges in life not just as sports. Handling adversity is something that we want our players to feel comfortable with and know how to navigate it, moments of adversity present itself."

PGHD: Who are your best shooters?

"[player_tooltip player_id='459955' first='Emma' last='Osborn']e and [player_tooltip player_id='923060' first='Libby' last='Suckert'] are probably our most consistent shooters. Both are considered forwards and can even play the post if need be. Because of the game being played from beyond the ark, the girls have adapted their game to be able to be a threat from the three-point line. Again when they have had to put the ball on the floor, they have a consistent mid range game that really blends well with our offense of scheme. Even low-post play has been good for us."

PGHD: What type of defense do you play?

"More often or not, we will play man-to-man with the understanding that we want to have consistent ball pressure at the top of the key, and that we are discipline in our fundamentals by closing out to shooters and boxing out on the boards. The game of basketball is pretty simple when you break it down, and if you can't do the fundamentals, it doesn't matter who you're gonna play— you will get exposed."

PGHD: Can you tell us about your offense?

"When we've been playing our best offense when we've played inside out. The idea that we can get a three-point shot any day of the week falls within the philosophy of us wanting to attack inside and make defenses collapse. Once we feel like we can do that we can kick out to shooters and now can play a “pick your poison” kind of style office. Additionally, our offense is predicated on constant movement and movement away from the ball. If you're standing, still, we preach that you relocate and find a new area of the floor to attack."

PGHD: What are a couple highlights that stick out to you from June?

"June was an interesting month for us. Overall, we battled really well at tournaments and usually found ourselves about .500 or with a winning record. Unfortunately, injuries are part of sports and we've had to handle some adversity that has prevented us from being at full strength. The major highlight for us was winning the Concordia Tournament and going 4-0 on the weekend. It was a refreshing outcome for our team to know that when we commit to the defensive side of the game, we can really be a hard team to play against and score consistently over."
