The First Coast has some very good talent, especially at the top of the talent pool. In recent years, Taliah Scott and Clare Coyle have been the easy choices for top players on the First Coast. This upcoming season, there are about 10 to 15 players who could be in contention for “Top Player” on the First Coast. In this article, we look at a few guards who could “wear” this honor when it's all said and done.

[player_tooltip player_id='346820' first='Abby' last='Knauff'] is the most experienced name on this list and would be the odds on favorite for the honor. As a Freshman, she was in the conversation for player of the year for the entire State of Florida. Knauff has the game - the scoring ability, the shooting ability, and her overall play on the court. Knauff can shoot the three with the best of them and her catch and shoot could be the best in the State.

[player_tooltip player_id='248551' first='Alanna' last='Tatum'] is a strong candidate for GOAT consideration on the First Coast. Tatum is a traditional point guard who can dish the rock to the open players and set up players to get quality shots because of her ability to draw defenses. Tatum also has the ability to take over games with her elite speed and athleticism and basketball IQ. Tatum has a quiet demeanor and makes everything look easy, but her athleticism is on par with the likes of [player_tooltip player_id='346835' first='Jaida' last='Civil'] and Eris Lester.

[player_tooltip player_id='346822' first='Lamiyah' last='Hogans'] plays well and would definitely be in the conversation. Her versatility on both sides of the ball, puts her high on the list. Hogans can play multiple positions on offense and she can defend three positions on defense as well. She can shoot the three, shoot the pull up midrange shot, and she can get to the basket. She is exciting as they come in the open court and can finish with the left or the right hand.

[player_tooltip player_id='430455' first='Kimora' last='Hester'] is a player to keep an eye on. She has great athleticism, great scoring ability, and has the potential to even get better. She can shoot the midrange, shoot the three, but her bread and butter is the pull up jumper in the paint. Oh yeah, don't forget the 36 inch vertical jumping ability.

[player_tooltip player_id='346853' first='Janai' last='Jordan'] is another player who is in the discussion. Her ability to score at multiple levels and the responsibilities she has on the floor on both ends of the floor make her a viable candidate. Jordan can run the point or the shooting guard

[player_tooltip player_id='400785' first='Audrey' last='Beyer'] is another young player who will be in contention next season. Beyer can shoot the three and can attack the rim. She also has the ability to get to the freethrow line a lot (She was amongst the leaders on the First Coast). Beyer is continuing to expand her game and she will be in the conversation.

Other guards in the running: [player_tooltip player_id='430261' first='Janie' last='Boyd'], [player_tooltip player_id='514522' first='Morgan' last='Cremen'], [player_tooltip player_id='514608' first='Evelyn' last='Freeman'], [player_tooltip player_id='805961' first='Jazlynn' last='Curtis']
