Film School: Breaking Down Player Film

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I sat down to evaluate game film from a few of the top players from around the state. Perhaps the hardest singular skill in basketball is to being able to score the ball when the entire defense knows it's coming, and is loading up with help defenders keep you from scoring. Wilhite is turning her self into a bonafide shot maker even when she's being guarded by the other team's best defender. At 5'10, she has nice size, and is really tough to get a clean contest against. And, she's a threat to pull from anywhere on the court. She's a prolific three point shooter, and defenses are trying to get into her "air space" in order to take away the three ball. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Her game has truly evolved over the past season when it comes to attacking closeouts. Just watch the film. She's beginning to attack defenses with confidence off the bounce, and learning how to use her size/length to get off shots (floaters, lays) even in traffic. She's even showing some playmaking chops as a passer. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Plus, watch her guard! She's a disruptive defender that can really "wall" up and force ball handlers to go through her. Great instinct jumping in passing lanes, and getting deflections. Unselfish passer in transition. Athletic but doesn't get in a hurry. Creative finisher around the rim; can finish with either hand; has a really nice back of lays. Does a great job of taking advantage of angles when attacking the rim. She's a legit three level scorer that can do a bit of everything. Is a tremendous shooter of the catch, and has great footwork to go along with a lighting quick trigger. Is a sneaky good athlete, and is quicker than you realize. When she gets down hill (in transition or half court) she's really learning how to become a finisher with her unique combination of size and skill. Lots of bounciness to her game as a ball handler. Terrific job playing with changes in pace, and stops &amp; starts. Really knows how to create separation, and get her shoulders past defenders. Nice floor vision. Becoming a knock down shooter from three is opening up the rest of her game. Impactful defender that understands the value of real effort. Willing to sacrafice her body for loose balls. Does a tremendous job moving her feet, and great instincts drawing charges. High level passer with great vision. Truly knows the game, and knows what's about to happen before it actually does. Does a terrific job changing speeds and levels on the off the bounce. Tremendous ball handler. Really improved as a scorer, and is a high level finisher.
