Let's be frank, if you are reading this article, you love basketball. You follow the high school game. Maybe you are a player. Maybe you are a parent. Maybe you are a coach. Whoever you are, you are a part of the game in the state of Tennessee.

When thinking of the class of 2027, these girls genuinely love the game of basketball. Let me break it down for you. There could be a reason or a theory for this, but I am not going down that rabbit hole. Starting with the class of 2026 and an influx beginning in the class of 2027, more girls in these particular classes saw the floor earlier than in previous classes. Personally, I feel that the ‘27 class came in more ready to contribute top to bottom based on their body of work in a lot of things. The training aspect has been enhanced. TSSAA created TMSAA where more schools joined under one association under a common goal. Travel ball has gotten more sophisticated where there aren't only shoe leagues, but also independent leagues that are pretty good quality. Within all these aspects, the ‘27 class has benefitted the most. I could be wrong, but a lot of girls from this class are more well rounded and have a solid grasp on their game.

This upcoming year is going to be an exciting one. Sure, it's the 25s last hoo-rah, but it's also a changing of the guard per se. The ‘27s are sophomores now and with them having an early solid body of work, they are ready to contribute starting day 1. Don't get me wrong, the ‘26 class has some go-getters too, but this class is filled with alpha dogs waiting to come off that leash. By no means are any of these girls finished products. That's not what I am saying, they are still in the process of being built. They are going to take their lumps, but in doing so, they are going to be playing significant minutes versus riding the pine or just only playing junior varsity.

In conclusion, this ‘27 class will be the one who will be taking the reins of a program over the next couple of years. The talent this class has will help jumpstart and solidify a team for this year and years to come. Due to their skill sets that they bring to the table, I feel from the east side to the west side and all in between, this class will help enhance the standards of programs around the state.

Solid two-way player who gets buckets. She does so from dialing it up from deep or putting it on the floor and finishing at the rim. Ava has a knack for being around the ball. She anticipates well, causing the other team to turn the ball over. She's great in the open floor. In half court sets, you can't leave her open or she will make you pay. This kid is a solid two-way player who is a gem in the making. Look for her to continue to grow and be something special for the Lady Dawgs.

Big body down low who will be asked to play a pivotal role in the success of the Lady Raptors. Her game is in growth mode, as she has worked and gained more confidence in her craft. When it clicks for her, it's going to be scary in the fact that she is going to dominate her area. She's big in the paint and aggressive especially on the defensive end where she blocks shots, rebounds, and gets tons of deflections. On offense, she is used down low in the interior, displaying nice footwork on her way to the basket. A young stud in the making, this kid is poised to have a breakout year.

Aggressive forward who is a walking double-double. Defensively, she's a hunter, eliminating her assignment, making it difficult for them to operate. I love her ability to get physical, box out, and then jump up and gain a rebound in the air. She's instinctive and doesn't wait for things to happen. Offensively, she is solid in the high low action. Has a nice mid-range jumper, money from the low blocks. I love her ability to clean up missed shot attempts, put them back and finish through contact. She's an energy giver and when she makes a spectacular/ hustle play, it sends shockwaves through her ballclub. Solid kid who will continue to get better and turn heads along the way.

Solid up and coming guard who is fundamentally sound. She plays the ball the right way and contributes in all facets of the game. She can shoot from multiple spots on the floor, however it's the little things she does and excels at them. She rebounds, gets steals, in the correct position on defensive rotations, little things like these may go unnoticed, but it sure does help propel her ball club. She will look to have an even bigger role this upcoming season. Look for her to become more of a scoring threat. I'm just not talking about her operating from a set, but using her defensive prowess to get even more buckets as well. Great kid who is about to get busy this upcoming season.

Long rangy forward who is very versatile. Has many tools in her tool belt that enable her to be a tough outing any night of the week. A multi level scoring threat who competes her tail off not only on the offensive end, but the defensive end as well. An energy giver who can change the course of the game at a moment's notice. A kid who continues to grow and as she does so, expects big things down the road. She has the makeup and work ethic to be a special player that will lead the LCHS ball club.
