The Jamboree Showcase All Event Team

The weekend came and went as the second annual <a href="https://thejamboreeshowcase.com/">Jamboree Showcase</a> concluded in East El Paso. IDEA Edgemere Preparatory School hosted the two-day event with a majority of the top prospects and schools in the Borderland area in attendance. In total 10 teams competed in 20 games across two days from September 14-15. With that, here is an All-Event Team comprised of the 10 best-performing and standout prospects from the weekend.    [player_tooltip player_id='948978' first='Kylie' last='Marquez'] was the most impressive prospect I watched all weekend. She just checks every box and then some. There isn't an aspect of the game she wasn't engaged in or impacting. Moreover, her defensive versatility and playmaking were impressive all weekend. Americas has a special player on their hands and Marquez is undoubtedly one of the best prospects in the Borderland region. It is not a matter of what Marquez can't do on the floor but how well she can do whatever is asked of her.     With the Eastwood girl's basketball team, there is plenty of talent to choose from when evaluating that squad. That said, the most impressive prospect for the Troopers this weekend was [player_tooltip player_id='998595' first='Victoria' last='Duran']. The junior was remarkable from a conditioning standpoint as she was all over the floor. Again, another prospect that checks all the boxes from scoring to playmaking to defending. Eastwood is arguably the top team heading into the 2024-25 season and Duran has a lot to do with that.     Although she won't be lining up against most of the competition she faced this weekend during the 2024-25 season, [player_tooltip player_id='467055' first='Nakia' last='Mojica'] showed why she would be one of the top Borderland prospects. She stood out amongst most with her efficient shot-making and on-ball skills out in transition. She was smooth, under control, and rarely bothered by her opposition. As a playmaking guard, she placed herself near the top of that list with her performance at the Jamboree.     Making an impact on a game doesn't always have to come through scoring a ton of points and filling a stat sheet. Sometimes the biggest way a prospect can impact a game is by how they lead and carry themselves. Itzel Caro is the embodiment of that second statement. That said, she also found ways to score, rebound, assist, and defend at a high level too. She was all over the floor for Eastwood as she asserted herself as their team leader game in game out. Every team in the Borderland would be fortunate to have a player like Caro.     You can't make a list of All-Event performers without [player_tooltip player_id='642714' first='Teeya' last='Gordon']. The Alamogordo prospect was one of the leaders scorers from the weekend and a nightmare matchup on the defensive end for her opponents. So much of the Alamogordo offense ran through Gordon, which was impressive to watch on a possession-by-possession basis. Moreover, her conditioning considering how often her number was being called stood out as well. For a preseason event, Gordon looked more than ready for the output that was asked of her.     One of the few freshmen in attendance for the Jamboree was Franklin's Allison Del La O. She might be young but she showed why Division I schools are already after her. Del La O is poised beyond her years and is already a remarkably refined ball handler and playmaker. Her court awareness and ability to control the pace of a game were truly elite. The Cougars are fortunate because they have one of the top point guards in girl's high school basketball for the next four years.     Americas went 4-0 this weekend with a host of talent that got it done as a collective. Part of that collective was the 2026 prospect, Jaedyn Herrera. The combo guard just made plays all weekend. Most impressive was how she found her way to the ball on both ends of the floor, especially on defense and transition sequences. It seems that the Trail Blazers have a host of prospects that check so many boxes with Herrera being chief among them.     The third of a trio of Americas High School prospects to make this list, Kaylan Medrano was just as impressive as her Trail Blazer teammates. She was a pest on defense, continually making plays on that end, and hit plenty of shots on the offensive end. She was most dynamic out in transition/fastbreak sequences and was truly impressive as Americas finished the Showcase undefeated.     One of the top prospects from the class of 2025 was in attendance this weekend and she can't go unmentioned. [player_tooltip player_id='346120' first='Emma' last='Balsiger'] is the top returning player for Franklin and her leadership and positive attitude were on display. Known for her elite 3-point shooting, Balsiger was more impactful in the way she led and held herself against elite competition. Franklin has some youth entering the varsity squad this season and players like Balsiger will undoubtedly play a role in developing and nurturing that young talent.     It was all hustle and effort with Danae Gonzalez this weekend. That was the scouting report I got her on before the Showcase and it proved to be true. More impressive was her ability to go and get the ball, especially off a miss even as one of the smaller players on the ball. Her height doesn't limit her to certain aspects of the game or areas on the floor. Gonzalez truly was a do-it-all-player for the Mustangs this weekend. Moreover, she is in the discussion of elite prospects in the 5A district in El Paso.
