We're continuing the breakdown of each team from the Freshman Showcase last weekend, and today we're onto Team Three. Let's highlight what each kid did well in Appleton on Sunday.

The future Appleton East Patriot was one of the quicker kids off the dribble in Appleton. MontMarquette's ability to beat her initial defender off the dribble and read defenses well when she got downhill was noticeable. The one thing she did that most didn't was play off of two feet around the rim. The future Patriot also had soft touch around the rim and forced the defense to play at her pace. MontMarquette made the defense pay for every lapse they had.

[player_tooltip player_id='974989' first='Laney' last='Sitek']

I said the other day that I'm a sucker for defensive guards, and Sitek played defense like her hair was on fire. She flew around that end of the floor and created extra possessions based on the level she put in on that end of the floor. A good way to possibly earn playing time at Kimberly, whether that's this season or not, is to be an excellent defensive kid at the point of attack. We'll see what her path looks like at a loaded Kimberly program, but I love how she digs in on the defensive end of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='922655' first='Kinnley' last='Fulcer']

I only saw Fulcer for a few minutes in the 3x3 portion of the event, but it showed her IQ. She loves the little things like directing traffic with the ball in her hands, passing the ball to move defenders, setting screens, and finding ways to maximize space. I've seen her shoot the ball better in the past, but her ability to make positive plays on both ends of the floor without knocking down as many shots as I know she can shows how impactful she can be. I'm a fan of what she can do.

[player_tooltip player_id='884030' first='Aubrey' last='Klug']

The motor that Klug played with jumped out immediately. She's a guard who rebounded the ball at a high level. That isn't something every guard can do, and it's all because of how hard Klug plays on both ends of the floor. If she's as good of a rebounder as she showed in Appleton, Klug could play varsity basketball early at Milton. Her competitive edge will add something to a Milton team looking to take another step when they get healthy this season, and Klug could be a part of that.

[player_tooltip player_id='888664' first='Josie' last='Johnston']

The Franklin guard did an excellent job moving away from the ball and found pockets of open space away from the ball. None of that will pop up on film or by most who watched her play, but she found ways to get open but was a little unlucky with having overthrown passes come her way or other things of that nature. I thought she was skilled when she did get her hands on the ball, but she wasn't the type of player to need the ball in her hands to make positive plays. I'm curious to see how she fits into the new era of Saber basketball over the next few seasons.
