Big Cat Basketball Fall League teams have hit the court at South Lyon High School every Sunday since September 29th and I was excited to watch the competitors in person on October 20th. There were several girls who made an impact for their teams on Sunday.

Bella earned All-Conference Select Team honors last season and she showed why on Sunday at the Big Cat fall league. Bella has the height and strength to play inside but is very skilled as a ball-handler. She attacked defenders using her dribble and delivered passes on the money to teammates for assists. Bella battled on the boards to score an offensive rebound putback with her left and scored a strong drop step finish off two feet. A 6-foot plus guard/wing prospect like Bella is a prospect colleges should prioritize seeing this winter.

Gabriella is a guard prospect for Stevenson who earned an honorable mention last year, but she looks ready to jump into the All-Conference category this winter. At Big Cat fall league, Gabby finished many layups using excellent balance and footwork. She scored layups with a euro-step move and another off two feet. Gabby blazed down the full court after a steal to score a left layup and battled for an offensive rebound to earn free throws.

Peyton flexed her muscles on Sunday at Big Cat fall league, displaying extreme toughness and determination for the Mustangs. Peyton split defenders with her hard drives to the basket for multiple layups, including an and-one through contact. She used a fake pass move to earn free throws and knocked down both attempts from the charity stripe. Peyton blocked a shot on the perimeter by closing out quickly, wrestled for 50/50 balls on the floor, and stole the ball away to score a right-handed layup. Peyton looks ready for an electric winter season.

Sophia greatly impacted the game with her hard work on defense at the Big Cat fall league on Sunday. She cut off ball-handlers with her quick lateral movement and pressured guards on the perimeter. Sophia pushed the ball in transition after corralling defensive boards and made extra passes to create open looks for teammates. She put her foot down and drove hard to score a contested layup in the paint for the Mustangs.

Sophia sparked her team by providing physicality, toughness, and hustle at Big Cat fall league on Sunday. Sophia looked like she was shot out of a cannon pursuing an offensive rebound and she ripped the ball right out of her opponent's hands. Sophia shoots with good balance and mechanics; she plays aggressively on both ends. Sophia provides an advantage as a rebounder and is the kind of glue player every team needs to win games.
