Countdown to 2024-25 Basketball Season: Key Players to Watch

We are less than two weeks away from when practice begins for the 2024-25 season. Just like many of you, I can't wait. It's going to be an exciting year. I can fill it in the air. There are so many future headlines and storylines that will be written and just thinking about the unknown, brings excitement in itself. Who will make it to state this year? What upsets will happen? Who will be the Miss Tennessee finalist? What prospects will emerge? The list goes on and on. Of course there are more questions out there, but these are just a few that are coming front he top of my head.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another thing about this season, this is the last year for the class of 2025 to strap it up and compete in the high school ranks. Sad, absolutely. However, there is still a lot of work to be done. I can feel it in my bones that this upcoming season will be a tremendous year for the 25 class. A lot of people will rise above one more time to help propel their ball club. I know a lot of kids get senioritas and stuff, but I don't feel that way with this class. These girls are still hungry. Have something to prove. She has been in the gym working hard during open gym and training workouts. She has improved on her 3pt shot to go along with her ability to score on the interior. She knows she has a lot going for her as colleges are taking one last look at her. She possesses good size, has the ability to create mismatches from both inside and out, and contributes in every statistical scoring column there is. Often overlooked, this kid had a tremendous season on the circuit where she was tested and made her mark against some stiff competition. Now that she is back in school ball, she will look to become a solid contributor who can score but will also be looked upon to get after it on the defensive end. Malia has interest from colleges but look for her to receive even more interest as she battles it out against district foes. This young lady is a swingman that can play the guard and forward spots. She can create off the dribble, spot up on the perimeter, and flash into open spaces to catch and shoot. She contributes on the boards on both ends of the floor. I love her ability to read and react, jumping passing lanes to get steals. Kayla will be looked upon to be a foundational piece for a hungry Lady Lions ball team. The opportunity escaped her ball club last year, but she is ready to make sure that it doesn't happen this year. She's ready to run it back, and in doing so she has been in the lab getting ready. Madyson is a shifty guard who can put the ball in the hole. Her ability to create is pretty impressive as it is hard for opponents to bottle her up. Some may be able to slow her down, but you better believe it will only be for a moment. She is a heady ball player who gets after it on both ends of the floor. A heady floor general who can handle the rock, slice through gaps, and put the ball in the bottom of the net. She can defend like crazy, creating havoc that leads to turnovers. For all those hoop heads out there, remember Matean Cleaves from Michigan State back in the day? Her game is very similar to his.
