The featured image is of [player_tooltip player_id='295727' first='Victoria' last='Velez'] (2025) of Whiting High School.

A couple of weeks ago, we released the updated rankings for the Class of 2025. With 235 players now either ranked in our Top 100 or a part of our 135-person watch list in 2025, I wanted to take the time to highlight a few girls from each position group. Below is a look at the shooting guards and the 45 ladies included in this specific group, followed by some analysis on a handful of those prospects.

.

It's always a great thing when you get to see players who have battled injuries healthy, and such was the case with Mylie this Spring & Summer. She was quick, fast, and explosive, and she was flying around the floor as I remember her as a youngster. She has always played hard and competed at both ends of the floor, and she has been great at getting to the basket and finishing in traffic or at least drawing contact. She has shown the ability to play on the ball as well and distribute, plus she can defend either backcourt position.

Mallory has unfortunately missed significant time in the last year, but I've heard she's getting close to looking like herself again. She is a really nice athlete, she has a wiry-strong frame, and she plays with an outstanding motor. She has touch from the perimeter and can keep defenses honest, because she is an excellent driver who can absorb contact and finish athletically around the basket. Mallory has also shown the potential to push in transition and initiate the offense, and she can defend three positions equally well.

The common denominator so far with these girls on this list is a motor, and Brynna has a tremendous motor as well. She has broad shoulders, strength, and she's extremely tough-nosed and physical on the wing. She has some touch outside, but she is a very good North/South driver who will just go through defenses. When she was younger, she was more of a small forward, but she has really worked on her explosiveness and become much quicker and more effective in all directions. She has especially improved at the defensive end of the floor.

Kyleigh is a lesser-known prospect who small colleges should familiarize themselves with, because I think she has a lot to offer, plus I don't think she's close to reaching her ceiling. She is extremely long and wiry, she's a fluid athlete, and she glides around the floor somewhat effortlessly. She is a nice multilevel scorer who can knock down an open rhythm jumper, but her game is mostly attacking the basket and "slithering" around defenders to finish inside. For as good as she has been in high school, I think her best ball is yet to come.

Victoria began her high school career at Bishop Noll, but she is now in her second season at Whiting, where she should be a statistical leader for them in just about every category. She is a solid to strong guard with length, she's a balanced athlete in all directions, and she plays with a nice motor. She can handle the ball a little and run offense, but I think her niche in college will be as a shooter/scorer. She is a capable outside shooter, but she's also a crafty attacker who can get to the basket or find open teammates in positions to score.
