Last Sunday, the [program_tooltip program_id='716173' first='Always' last='100'] grassroots program centered in Fort Wayne, Indiana, hosted their annual college showcase. This has been a staple of the program for about the last 7 years or so, where they invite players in from their 17U teams down to 14U teams to participate in drills and open runs/scrimmages in front of many of the Midwest's small colleges. There were no fewer than 30 schools who showed up throughout the day's two sessions, and there were somewhere between 90 and 100 prospects on hand participating. This is the fourth of several articles highlighting a few of the ladies who stood out last weekend.

Mary is coming off of a strong showing in the Class 3A State Championship game, where she helped Bellmont to the title. She is a physical player, for sure, but while a lot of people call her a post, I think she's much more active & skilled, and she's more of a true "power" forward. Mary is constantly moving around. When she does post, it's long enough to receive the ball, and if she doesn't get it, she's on the move again. She's an active and physical rebounder/defender, plus she's a nice multilevel scorer as a face-up '4'. She should have a ton of elite small college interest this Spring.

BriTanya put up big numbers for Fort Wayne South Side this Winter. This was my first opportunity to see her, and I was very impressed. She has nice length, an athletic frame, speed & quickness, and she is a natural playmaker. From what I had heard about her, I thought she was a shooting guard or maybe even a wing, but once I saw her, I could see she was a really nice point guard who is also able to score the ball in bunches. She was confident with the ball in her hands, she scored it at all levels, plus she was a very active & aggressive defender who constantly got her hands on the basketball.

Dallas was originally a LaPorte, Indiana, product. But she moved into Westville this school year and helped bolster their lineup, offering talented classmate [player_tooltip player_id='999408' first='Hillary' last='Labis'] another running 'mate on the perimeter. Dallas has nice length, a wiry-strong frame, and she's a fluid/smooth athlete. She has some touch outside, and she can drive it a little as well. As she continues to make both parts of her offensive game a little more consistent, she could be tough to defend. I also like her effort at the defensive end of the floor, plus she was willing to go inside and rebound.

Sunday was my first opportunity to see Olivia play, and she was definitely a fun watch. She has a water-bug speed & quickness to her game, plus she has nice length at her height, and she can cause havoc at both ends of the floor. Defensively, she can create deflections/steals from "help" side, but she's also a gnat defending the ball. Offensively, she showed the ability to handle it and manage an offense, but she was also effective as a wing shooter who could find open space and knock down rhythm jumpers. She'll certainly be one to watch in the coming months.

For the last couple of years, I have been a Kenna fan each time I've seen her, so I'm hoping she gets a much bigger opportunity next Winter with all of the graduates Homestead has in 2026. Kenna has length, she's fairly quick, and she has a little speed. What I like most about her is she picks & chooses when to explode, but otherwise she plays at a steady pace. She is constantly scanning the floor looking for open teammates, and she rarely forces the action. But when she needs to, she can pick up the tempo and aggressively attack the defense. She's also an effortful defender herself.

A lot of times ladies make quite the jump between their Freshman and Sophomore years, and Zoie seems to be one of those prospects. She looks a little stronger, but she is playing stronger and with more comfort/confidence. She flies up the floor in transition, and when she catches it on the wing, she is almost immediate with making a decision to shoot, attack, or penetrate and dish. She has become more consistent as a perimeter shooter, and she is defending with more urgency as well. This Spring & Summer are an important time for her to play against top competition each game.

Madison was at South Side as a Freshman but chose to transfer to Snider as a Sophomore. She has an athletically strong frame, really nice length, and some bounce. She is very active and plays with a lot of energy, especially offensively. She was looking to play off the dribble quite a bit, almost too much at times, but her aggression was nice, and I think once she understands changing speeds and moving without the ball to improve her opportunities better, she could be a real problem offensively. Defensively, she has the ability to sit down and defend guards, but she's also tough inside.
