Future Stars Shine at Tennessee Girls Basketball Showcase

A one day affair that allowed some of Tennessee's best to lace up their shoes and showcase their talents.It was an opportunity for iron to sharpen iron, as girls played against competition that they may or may not ever play during the regular season or on the travel ball circuit. Seeing the various talents in the gym gave spectators an opportunity to witness all the different levels and styles of play we have here in the state. From the mountains in the east to the city life in the west, girls from all over came together to compete and play.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Everyone from top to bottom did a phenomenal job as they showcased their various skills. If you came, you belonged, there wasn't a kid in the gym that didn't bring some kind of sustenance to the table. She wants all the smoke and is willing to guard the other team's best player. She's a major contributor who possesses quick hands and quick feet. A selfless kid who checks all the boxes as far as statistics go. This kid's confidence is growing and with that her game is too. Communication (positively) is big with this kid. Kamiyah played big time during the event, establishing her presence on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. She was instrumental in scoring buckets in the paint, rebounding, and setting solid screens that enabled her to roll into nice shot attempts. She was big on the boards and was always in good position especially in help side situations. She was poised with the ball in her hands. She hunted great shot attempts. She was tough on the defensive end. She never gave up on any plays. Her hustle and heart was big to me. She had a sweet stroke from the arc, but was willing to get creative and put the ball on the floor. She scanned the floor in transitional breaks, hitting the right teammate in stride. Shot it well from the arc at a consistent clip, but was willing to attack gaps and finish at the rim. Numerous times if she didn't have a shot attempt, she was patient and creative to exploit an opportunity given to her and then challenged the next defender who stepped up. She played with a lot of hustle and heart, going strong each and every possession. Will be an exciting prospect to watch and follow. Look for her to continue on this upward path and be a staple for the Mt. She knows how to conduct a team, patiently putting teammates in spots to exploit a weakness in the defense. Time and time again, she manipulated the defense to help free up an advantage shot opportunity for a teammate. Solid in the transition game, she always seemed to make the right pass at the right time.
