Sophomores to Watch: Inland Empire

While underclassmen are not expected to shine at the Varsity level, having a productive first year sets both the player and team up for success. Sophomores play a unique role creating a name for themselves, while also still learning and gaining experience. It's hard to be a star on a team full of them but the 6'3 freshman has made her mark already. Etiwanda is chasing back to back state championships. They will lean on their experienced starters but also look for the underclassmen like Phillips to fill the gaps. It's hard to ignore when you average 7 points and 5 rebounds as a freshman. The 6'1 SF looks to help the continued success of Ontario Christian after a perfect year of league play. Moreno Valley went 8-0 in the Sunbelt league, 30-6 overall. The Vikings will be the team to beat for the next few years as they return an entire roster. Aquinas finished 22-8 on the year and finished second in the Ambassador league behind a tough Ontario Christian team. However, more importantly she also averaged nearly 5 rebounds a game. The Rams return many starters this year with hopes to find more success this upcoming season.
