As we get ready for another high school basketball season, many of these young ladies have been putting in a lot of work this offseason after their sophomore year. Your junior year is typically a breakout year for most players, and here are a few I expect to have breakout seasons in the St. Lucie and Martin County area.

[player_tooltip player_id='514533' first='Kaeley' last='Ciceron'] plays low and fast, getting downhill quickly, and has the ability to stop on a dime and change direction swiftly to throw off defenders' timing, making it easier for her to finish at the rim. Because Kaeley plays so low and strong, she can shoot off the dribble when defenders back off or use her quickness and lower body strength to step back and knock down shots. She also shoots the corner three well, and her understanding of passing and replacing often gets her open. Kaeley has the IQ and skill to use her jab steps effectively, creating space for her shot and staying balanced to shoot straight out of the jab.

Defensively, she knows how to get into gaps for help defense, create steals, and plays physical on-ball defense, forcing ball handlers to adjust and create space to run their offense. Kaeley is poised for her best season yet as a junior, building on her sophomore year averages of 12.1 PPG, 4.8 AST/G, and 4.3 STL/G.

Last season, [player_tooltip player_id='514558' first='Olivia' last='Titherington'], in her sophomore year, averaged 17.9 PPG, 5.6 AST/G, and scored 516 points, setting her up to reach the 1,000-point milestone in her junior season. She currently sits at 925 career points. Olivia lights up the scoreboard in various ways, but her standout ability is how she shoots the three-ball. She is a knockdown shooter from all over the floor, and defenses must always be aware of her location. She shot 37% from three during her sophomore year, making 57 three-pointers, with one game where she hit seven.

Because teams have to respect her shot so much, she draws a lot of attention, which allows her to showcase her passing ability. Last season, she averaged 5.6 assists per game, making teams pay for overcommitting. I foresee Olivia easily averaging 20 PPG in her junior season after a very productive and competitive travel season with Essence.

[player_tooltip player_id='514564' first='Jailyn' last='Williams'] is a multi-sport athlete, and she is a dominant presence on the basketball court. Last season, in her sophomore year, she averaged a double-double with 18.4 PPG and 11.1 rebounds per game, including a season-high 26-point game and a 24-rebound game. She is athletic, has great vertical ability, and excellent footwork. Jailyn runs the floor well, grabs rebounds at their highest point, and shows impressive ball-handling with her quick changes of direction. To make her game even more challenging for defenses, she has solid form and can knock down the mid-range jumper.

Jailyn is one of the hidden gems in the state, excelling not only in basketball but in all the sports she plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='1274309' first='Reniah' last='Flynn'] is a scrappy athlete who knows how to be in the right place at the right time. When she catches the ball around the rim, she explodes off the ground quickly to finish, and if you're in her way, she fights through contact. Flynn goes after every single rebound, giving her team extra possessions. She also has the ability to shoot the mid-range jumper off the catch. Her ability to finish off two feet makes her more consistent, as she is always on balance when going up strong.

This relentless motor translates to the defensive end as well, where she consistently disrupts the offense with her active hands and energy. She shows grit, fighting for every loose ball, whether it's in the air or on the floor. I foresee her junior year being her best yet.

[player_tooltip player_id='514580' first='Elizabeth' last='Fitzwater'] comes off a very productive sophomore season where she averaged 12.5 PPG, with a season-high 24-point game, and was the leading scorer on her team. Elizabeth has great shooting form and follow-through, which allows her to score most of her points from shooting, particularly off the catch. She also has a knack for drawing fouls near the rim and getting to the free throw line, where she shoots 61%. These two avenues helped her score 300 points for the season.

Fitzwater doesn't stop on the defensive end either, as she has a keen ability to break on the ball and intercept bad passes in the gaps, averaging 2.5 steals per game and finishing the season with 60 steals. Going into her junior year, I foresee her increasing all of her averages and playing a major role in the team's success.
