West Region D-II AA Basketball Insights: Teams to Watch

Just a little east of&nbsp; the Mississippi River, the West Region resides. The mainstays within this district have normally been Hutchison and Briarcrest doing most of the heavy lifting. This year, there may be a few threats, but expect the same outlook.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With so many schools in the Memphis area, kids have tons of choices. Those who choose to compete at this level are committed. Girls who come out of here, or I should say at least within the last couple of years, have gone on to make some big time noise playing ball at the next level. Memphis basketball is just different. Doesn't matter the level. It is a way of life and those who use basketball as a platform to obtain higher education can do so. The west region has been solid over the years with teams jockeying for position. These teams do match up well against each other and thrive against competition outside their district. Briacrest and Hutchison normally are the ones who come out of the area to represent the district in tournament time, expect more of the same this year as they both have talented guard play that will help propel them throughout the season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As of right now, there are no signs that point to the two mainstays being knocked off. However, anything can happen for sure. This league is pretty solid but I foresee it getting even better in the coming years as more kids come into the fold from the middle schools ranks.
