Bear Down! Davidson Academy Is Ready To Compete

Well ladies and gentlemen, it's time for me to talk about the Davidson Academy Lady Bears. This ballclub is on the upswing, putting something together special that's going to be around for years to come. With one senior on the team, this club is young, energetic, and ready to get after it. Don't let the inexperience fool you as these young ladies have been sharpening their skills on various AAU clubs around. Take the success they have experienced on the circuit, mix it together with hard work and chemistry, and presto, you have a ball club that's ready to compete amongst some of the district's best.   Last season, they were 10-15 overall and 5-9 in the district. However, the girls showed tremendous grit and learned valuable lessons from their shortcomings. This season, they have set out tangible goals to achieve, in doing so they should be better than their record was from last year. Everything that happens on the basketball court is a learning experience, no matter the score or the outcome, you better believe this club is going to take something away from their opponents. Under Coach Swann's tutelage, this club is going to be better.    Though this club is young, expect them to compete with everything they have. They are going to be in a lot of ball games and going back to my  statement about learning lessons, if the ball happens to not bounce their way, there are plenty of heady ball players on this club who will bounce back and be ready for the 2nd go round. When you have a bunch of girls who operate as a unit and don't care who gets the glory, a lot of special things can happen. Consider this, DA is a team that can upset a lot of people in the near future.   Check out some young ladies who will “Bear Down” and suit up for Davidson Academy this upcoming season.    Dual sport athlete who uses her athleticism to her advantage. She is a talented wing who knows how to put the ball in the hoop. A downhill threat who is tough to deal with in the painted area. She can score it from all three levels, but once she gets her motor going, she is like a freight train in the night, coming at you strong. Solid defender who contributes on the boards as well. Look for her to be the #1 threat for this Lady Bears attack.     Heady ball player who can stretch the floor or play from within. She can score it from all 3 levels. Has nice handles, uses her body well to create advantages against opponents, this kid knows how to put the ball in the bottom of the net. She's aggressive, isn't scared to stick her head in the action, she's always around the ball or in position to get the ball. Contributes on the boards, blocks shots, gets steals, and deflections. Solid kid who is a threat to opposing teams no matter where she is on the floor.     Dual sport athlete that is very athletic. Fearless athlete who can fill it up from afar. Has a sweet stroke from the perimeter, but will also battle it out down low on the inside. Contributes on the boards in a big time way. Plays with poise, confidence, and is willing to do whatever it takes to help her ball club grab a W. Heady ball player who continues to get better and will look to shine this upcoming season.     Dual sport athlete who has shown improvements over the years. She steps back into the dominant PG role and she will be tasked with running the offense efficiently and effectively. She makes timely passes, and can score from multiple spots on the floor. She is dominant on the defensive end, where she is solid and turns over the opposition, baiting them into turnovers. Look for her to come out and contribute for the Lady Bears on both ends of the floor.     Combo guard who will come into this season looking for something to prove. Hannah is a solid individual who stars at her role. She can knock down open shots from a catch and shoot position, get down hill for a lay up, but most importantly she contributes and is pretty sound on the defensive end. Solid kid who will continue to grow and be a contributor for this ball club.     Young cub who is ready to take a swipe at the opposition. This forward is the “can do all things” type. She can score from the perimeter and from within, be used in the screen game, and is selfless as she hits open teammates who have a better shot attempt than she may have. She is strong on the defensive end, dives for loose balls, and is on the glass. Look for her to come into this year and carve out a role and play some major minutes for the Lady Bears team. Solid two way player whose stock will continue to rise this upcoming season.
