Class 5A Preview: 2024-2025 Players to Watch A-H

Class 5A is the largest classification in the state. It also has some of the best players to grace the hardwood. On any given night, one of the top players in the classification can drop twenty or thirty against a team. That is why they are some of the cream of the crop to watch in the Boot. In this preview of some of the best players in 5A, we will list 30 players to watch as the 2024-25 season evolves.   *Players are listed in alphabetical order    Antoine can play on or off the ball at a high level. She can stretch the floor and find players for the assist. She is definitely one of the best players in class 5A.    Thamerin Balthazar (5'5" | 2025 | Alexandria High) - A high motor guard who plays hard on both ends of the floor   Jamar'i Bell (5'5" | 2025 | Huntington) - The Southeastern signee is very good at getting to the rim and dishing the rock.    Benoit is a guard who can make game-changing plays with the way she reads passing lanes. She is also a threat offensively attacking the rim and shooting from deep.    [player_tooltip player_id='947881' first='Skylar' last='Branch'] (5'10" | 2026 | Haughton) - Branch is one of the best post threats in the game. She can score over either shoulder and will rebound everything she gets her hands on.   He'Shia Brown (5'4" | 2025 | Central Lafourche) - Brown is a talented guard who can shoot the three. She is also a blur when she steals the ball and finishes solo breakaways. It's her defense that disrupts the offensive flow of her opponents.    Comery is a power forward who can play like a guard. In the open floor, she can handle and finish at the rim. She is also a very good rebounder who can dominate in the paint. She can handle the ball, attack from the perimeter and rebound on both ends. She is a triple threat on the offensive end.   [player_tooltip player_id='668606' first='Kaylee' last='Dublin'] (6'0" | 2025 | Archbishop Chappelle) - Dublin is a player who has the ability to dominate in the paint. She is a space eater who rebounds and blocks shots. She is an inside force scoring as well. Very hard to stop if she catches the ball in the paint.    One of the best defenders in her class. Effit can protect the rim and has terrific timing when it comes to blocking shots. Pounding the offensive boards is something she does very well. Kamara has double-double ability on a nightly basis.    [player_tooltip player_id='489558' first='Kyndal' last='Graham'] (5'3" | 2026 | Huntington) - The best point guard in the 2026 class. She sees the floor well when she pushes the ball up the floor. In the half court, she can make the three off the dribble or via catch and shoot. Kyndal is an offensive machine.   Francesca Green (5'9" | 2025 | Southwood) - Green may be the most underrated senior in her class. She is a big guard who can handle, spot up, and start the break off the rebound. Green can play the 1 through the 3 and be effective at all three. Very versatile guard.    The Huntington lefty affects the game in a variety of ways. Hamilton can play lead guard and dish the rock. She can play off the ball and score using the drive or the jumper. Hamilton can also defend the other team's best player. Her high level of play is why Southern Miss signed her as a part of their recruiting class.    [player_tooltip player_id='668591' first='Alyssa' last='Hillard'] (5'6" | 2025 | Ponchatoula) - Hillard fills a stat sheet with whatever her team needs her to do. One night she can score and rebound or be a pure scorer on another night. She has a full bag and is not afraid to use it.    The Parkway senior is a Southeastern signee because she has a game that transfers well to the next level. She can take contact in the paint and finish while rebounding amongst the trees. Her ability to handle along with her height allows her to make plays others can't. She is a player who makes others better.    Watch for other high level players to be highlighted in Class 5A. There are a ton of players in this class who can be difference makers on the hardwood.
