Columbia Academy’s Lady Dawgs: Ready for a Breakout Season

The Lady Bulldogs of Columbia Academy are ready to come off their chain. They've been through the fire, have gained valuable experience, and now are ready to take a bite and secure one of the top spots in their district. Something in Maury Co. is brewing and the CA Lady Dawgs want all the smoke.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Last season, the Lady Dawgs were 10-14 overall and 5-7 in the district , finishing 5th. They dropped some close games that would have turned the tide per se. This offseason, it was a self check moment, where everyone on the team had to reevaluate themselves. Yes the program shifted new leadership, however the Dawgs have always had a solid program and they weren't playing like themselves. This offseason the girls committed to one another, played meaningful travel basketball, and overall just got better. Everyone stepped up. Not only did they put in work during the summer, but it had carried over into the fall. Hopefully their hard work will come to fruition and they will be able to stack some wins and reach their goals that they have set. In my opinion, they will shake up the district and reclaim one of the top four spots.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Like I mentioned earlier , these girls are primed and ready to have a breakout year. Individually, they have upheld their end of the bargain and went out and sought competition. Collectively , they have experience playing together and when it's time to put on the red and white uniforms, they will be out to prove something. Whatever the case may be, playing these Dawgs will not be a cake walk. A three level scoring threat who can create her own shot, dime up her teammates, and contribute on the boards. Physical kid who can defend guards and bigs. Reese had a tremendous travel ball season. Her ball club won the NE2k league in the 26 class, and she was named the MVP of the whole thing. Add district honors as well, and she has had one heck of a 2025 year thus far. Look for her to continue on this trajectory and be someone to really game plan for. She delivers the ball on time, makes the right reads, a technician of the offense. When all else fails, she can scamper down hill and get a bucket. Aggressive with the ball in her hands, don't leave her open on the perimeter because she can knock down shots out there too. Active on the defensive end, she is talented when it comes to adding pressure. Her confidence is at an all time high, and she is playing out of her mind. Someone who stars in her role, she is going to give you everything she has. Maya can score it from multiple spots on the floor, however it is her defense that sets the tone for the Lady Dawgs. She's fearless and will do whatever it takes to slow down the opposition. She wants to draw the tough assignments. This kid wants and loves to compete. The sensational freshman is ready to break through. After getting some experience as an 8th grader, she's now comfortable and equipped to take on the district with gusto . A 3 level scoring threat, she is poised with the ball in her hands. She knows how to fill it up, knocking down clutch shots all over the court. Plays sound defense, rebounds, gets steals , this kid is a complete player and is ready to let all 28s know she means business. She's a grinder. Someone who wants another team's best. The fall season was a success, where her confidence took off as well. She will come into the year with the opportunity to carve out a role for this club and be someone who will have an impressive stat line. Look for her to be a difference maker and contribute right off the bat.
