Franklin Road Academy’s Lady Panthers: A Team to Watch

Fierce? Ferocious? Fast ? Heck, whatever it is, I wouldn't want to be caught in the crosshairs of one. Down in south Florida , they have “beware of panther” signs on the side of the road. Caution, we need those here as well because the Lady Panthers of Franklin Road Academy are a danger to society.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These girls are on a mission to prove they belong not only in the top spots in their district, but in the top of D2-A conversation as well. Yeah I said it, they are the dark horse who can string something special together and shock the league. They have been flying under the radar, but I'm telling you this year, the whole league is going to be on high alert. Just like I mentioned how a panther was earlier, fast, fierce, ferocious , these girls are that plus a lot more.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Last season, they were 18-9 overall, 8-4 in the district , finishing 3rd. Mind you, their top two scoring options were only 8th graders. Hello world. They are freshmen now. Still got 4 more years to deal with them. You think they haven't gotten better. That's laughable. These girls have not only gotten better, but the team itself has done just that. All these girls have gained valuable experience and they are ready to compete for that district crown. Top 4 finish ? It's definitely in the cards.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Though the district has gotten tougher, expect these girls to come out and fit right on in. Their leading scoring options may be young, but don't let that fool you. These girls are cool, calm , and collective on the offensive end and tenacious on the defensive end. Ava has incredible handles that enables her the ability to create off the dribble. She can make quick release passes, break down a defender, oh yeah, I'll go ahead and tell you she can shoot it from all three levels as well. She isn't just an offensive threat, but is also a heady player on the defensive end. Fast twitch hips, she can lock up full court and turn the opposition, causing them to turn the ball over. Was a threat as an 8th grader and now that she is a freshman, look for her to be a pest again this year as well. She too has handles where she can create off the dribble. However, she is a volume scorer from multiple spots, filling it up, hitting the bottom of the net at a high clip. Her game has risen to new heights and she is playing with more confidence than ever before. She had a tremendous summer ball season, coupled with some solid performances at some showcase events. This kid isn't dodging any smoke. She wants to go out and prove she belongs in the conversation as one of the state's best in her class. Alyssa can score the rock at a high clip. She can shoot it from multiple spots, slice to the rim by attacking gaps, she is one of the better one on one players in the 28 class. Is a monster on the defensive end, she will not only get steals and deflections, but also contribute on the boards as well. This kid is a dynamic player and look for her to carve out an impactful role in this Lady Panthers attack. <br></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Lady Panthers of FRA will be a problem to deal with. They may be young but don't let their age fool you. This club has 3 solid options that can go off at any minute. Coaches, game plan wisely because this crew is going to come straight at you. Top 4 finisher in the district. Goals are much much bigger. This program is on the upswing and has some young dynamic players leading the way.<br></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
