GCA (Knox)Ball Club: Key Players to Watch This Season

Dare to be great. This came to mind when I thought about this Grace Christian Academy-Knoxville ball club. This team is ready to take off and eclipse new heights that haven't been reached before in their program. The mindset and focus of these young ladies has changed. They are a bunch of selfless players that are willing to do the little things to get the job done.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Last season, GCA finished 19-9 overall and finished 3rd in the district, going 11-4. Not a bad record at all, but something was missing. Insert Co-Head Coaches Angela and Dominic Wright, with that hiring the culture seemed to change. It's about doing things the right way, using your talents , gifts for a bigger cause/picture, and giving it everything you got. This offseason the girls bought into the new regime and they haven't looked back once. It's been an injection of energy that surely will benefit this program for years to come.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>GCA is going to bring a balanced attack offensively where they are going to get down hill and attack, freeing up the perimeter for open looks. Defensively they are going to get after it. Using their speed and athleticism to pick up full, create chaos, and get transitional buckets. This team is going to play as if they have a chip on their shoulder, but really it's based on their passion of the game. This program is on the rise and around campus , this feels like it's their year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>GCA will look to be one of the top teams in the district and has a good shot at representing the East in the state. Though at the top of the district may seem jammed, they will have some heavyweight bouts with some schools to jockey for position in the standings. Once tournament time comes, its game on as anything goes. Look for this club to reach new heights this season. A dynamic ball player who is a heady floor general. High basketball IQ, motored up kid who plays with high energy from top to finish . A multi level scoring threat that can get a bucket with ease. Poised with the ball in her hands, she doesn't get rattled, has tight handles, and can find the hot shooter at a moment's notice . What is often overlooked is her defensive ability. This kid can sit down and guard, create turnovers that lead to easy buckets going the other way. Sensational talent that will look to uplift this ball club this year. A three level scoring threat that is not stranger to the bottoms of the net. This kid can fill it up and she does so at a high clip. From deep, getting paint touches, no matter where, she is going to challenge whoever is in front of her and win the battle. Defensively she is fundamentally sound. Has active hands and quick feet , she gets steals and deflections, frustrating the opposition. Her and Nya make a favorable 1-2 punch that could be considered  one of the top 10 duos in the state. This kid is nasty from the arc. She knows how to put the ball in the hoop for sure. She can shoot it from the perimeter at a high clip or get around the rim and finish. She contributes in the defensive end as well. Steals, grabs boards, takes charges, she does all the little things and then some. She gained valuable experience last year playing with the varsity. This upcoming season, look for her to pick up right where she left off and add significant value to this ball club.
