Getting to the free throw line is essential in the game of Basketball. Most of the time many don't realize that the most efficient shot on a basketball court is a free throw. In this article we talk about prospects that did a great job of getting to the line a year ago during their high school season and they are looking to build onto that this season as well.

Brinchacek of Howells-Dodge High School averaged just over 3 FTA Per Game last Winter during her Freshman campaign and that might not seem like a whole lot but that numbers actually puts her in the Top 8 in her 2027 Class in FTA Per Game. Brinchacek competes out of the guard position while standing at 5'9 and she was an individual that made some big waves last season on the Varsity floor. She was one of the first on the floor for loose balls, she wasn't afraid to taking contact and getting to the line, and she knocked down the shots once she did get those opportunities. It'll be interesting to see how she follows that up with this upcoming season. Everyone around her now knows what she is capable of so I'm sure she is going to be a major piece within their system on both ends of the floor.

The main goal that [player_tooltip player_id='1060162' first='Avery' last='Reeson'] and Giltner High School will have for this Winter will be to limit turnovers and play efficient basketball for entire contests. If they can do that, they will look like a completely different program from year's past. Within their current system, Reeson is looking to attack her opponent and get to the line for some FTA's. Throughout the past two years, Reeson has consistently gotten better in the off-season and that has translated in her numbers as well. I'm not sure what to expect out of this group as a whole so I'm going to keep an open mind. If they work hard, Avery plays to her strengths, and they limit the giveaways, they are going to be in a great place to start off their 2024 - 2025 season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1060160' first='Hayden' last='Dixon'] falls into the category of a 5'9 Forward, that has a unique athletic ability combined with a smart head on her shoulders. Dixon comes into her Sophomore season as a multi-sport athlete, that understands what it means to compete at a high and consistent level. Each night at Stanton she is tasked with controlling the painted area and handling that situation from block-to-block. The biggest goal that Dixon should have as games get underway is being a little more consistent from the line. She got there a good amount in the past but now it's about knocking them down. Either way, I think Dixon is going to have a respectable Winter and she will definitely continue to be someone to know out of this 2027 Class moving forward.

Getting to the line is the first step in the process of becoming a good free throw shooter. At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter how good of a free throw shooter you are, if you don't have to shoot free throws. A prospect that was a fantastic percentage wise last Winter at knocking down her free throws once she got there was [player_tooltip player_id='1060158' first='Emersyn' last='Graves']. This time around, the goal will be for Graves to continue to work to get to the line. She ended off her Freshman year shooting around 75%. This isn't going to be as easy as it seem though. Graves competes as a versatile prospect for her high school program. She moves around A LOT and does several different jobs at the same time. She is going to have to work to balance that along with all of thing but if she is successful, she is going to love all the points she tallies up throughout her career from the charity stripe. No doubt about it.

[player_tooltip player_id='747245' first='Addison' last='Medeck'] is the premier post prospect from the state of Nebraska going into this season, that everyone around the Country will be looking at in the aspects of recruitment for the D1 level. At this position, Medeck thrives with her mixture of height, physicality, and situational awareness. She does a great job of moving well for her size and her soft touch on the ball helps her dominate the boards on both ends. Ending off her Freshman season, Medeck was a state leader in both FTA and FTM's, showing that she can get it done if she has to go to the line. Too much hasn't changed at PLVS High School from last year so I'm expecting more of the same out of Medeck for this Winter. If not, better once she returns.
