Lady Eagles Basketball: Ready to Compete Again

Each and every year this ball club seems to be in conversation to finish in the top part of their district. They may not always have top-tier talent, but are  coached up and ready to compete. A lot of people may write them off, but it always seems that this school has just what it takes to weather any storm. So when I say fly high Lady Eagles, these girls always seem to be ready and equipped to take on any opponent.   I will say this, last year got away from them. It was supposed to be their year, but there was a lot of  uncertainty and distractions that kept them from reaching their goals. They were 18-14 overall, 9-5 in the district. They battled injuries and other things, yet still overcame to finish 2nd in their district. The year before that, they were 23-6, 11-3 in the district, also finishing second. This year, do they have what it takes to finish at the top part again? In my opinion they do and will shock a lot of schools who may underestimate them.   The Lady Eagles have a balanced attack. These young ladies can knock it down from the perimeter, or use their creativity to attack the rim. They have different weapons on the floor that allow them to create mismatches that they can exploit. Most don't give them credit for, is there tenacious defense. They have the guards that can pick you up for court. They have the size that poses a threat if they are in a zone. If they start trapping, this is when it gets fun, because they usually turn over the opponent, which leads to easy transitional buckets. They may not have the numbers like a traditional program, but understand that these young ladies are fierce competitors who get after it because they are passionate about the game of basketball.    Look for these young ladies to have a sensational year. They may not be in conversation with those at the top of the class, but mind you they're going to lace up their shoes, each and every night and compete the entire ballgame.   Check out these ladies who will be shooting up for the Ezell Harding Lady Eagles. Fly high Lady Eagles!    Solid two-way assassin, who gets after it on both ends of the floor. She can shoot the rock from multiple spots on the floor, however, getting downhill and finishing at the rim is something that she does at a high clip. She plays tenacious defense, locking up the opposition and giving them fits. She is an athletic wing who possesses quick feet and solid hands and always seems to be at the right spot at the right time to get steals that lead to transitional buckets. She's back! Now that she is in familiar territory, knows her role, and the system they run, look for her to take off and play at an elite level. Solid prospect who has tons of talent.     Athletic senior combo point guard who is a heady basketball player. She can score it from multiple levels on the floor. Has amazing court vision to where she can drop off or kick out the basketball to a hot hand teammate. I love her ability to create off the dribble and get paint touches with ease. She's a solid defender who always has one hand in the gap and the other in position to rip the ball off an opponent. Another kid who I feel is overlooked. This season, look for her to have a breakout year and help lead the Lady Eagles ball club as they stack wins against the competition.     Freshman point guard who will be tasked with steering the ship for the Lady Eagles. She runs the offense with precision. A dual sport athlete who uses her athleticism to cause threats on both ends of the floor. Offensively, she has a nice mid-range game that compliments her ability to dime up her teammates. Defensively, she is going to go at you, staying in front, getting steals along the way. An exceptional talent that will be playing a big time role for this ball club.     Long and lanky wing that possesses a threat wherever she is on the floor. She may not be the first or second scoring option, but she is the one factor that can change an opponent's game plan. This young lady can use her size to battle in the interior or step out and knock down shots from the arc. She runs the floor well, getting easy over the top transitional buckets. Defensively, she's on the boards, blocks shots, and takes away attacking gaps. A solid talent who plays a big time role for this team.     Can attack gaps to score the basketball, but her M.O is defense. JB is a hard working defender that creates a lot of chaos. She has quick hands and feet, fast twitching hips, she is the one that will wear down an opponent to cause them to turn the ball over. Has solid instincts and anticipates well, this kid can be a defensive juggernaut. Look for her to have a solid senior season and contribute to this Lady Eagles ball club.     She will anchor the paint using her size and frame. Offensively, she has nice soft hands that enable her to catch any passes thrown down low and finish at the rim. She's physical , she goes through contact as she muscles up the basketball. Defensively, she is big time on the boards, finds her outlets quickly to start fast break opportunities. An instinctive ball player who will help eliminate second chance shots for opponents. A solid kid who is primed to have a breakout year.
