H.H. Dow High School hosted their annual Mid-Michigan Mega Scrimmage on Saturday, November 23rd and the event was once again an exciting day of basketball. New and familiar faces emerged as impact players for their teams throughout the day. Here are several competitors whose performance caught my attention in the gym.

Kiera climbed the recruiting charts during travel with an outstanding spring, dominated at Northwood Team Camp, and was the best front-court prospect on the court at the Mid-Michigan Mega Scrimmage on Saturday. She grabbed a steal and pushed the ball with pace full court, then sealed her defender to score a drop-step layup off two. Kiera converted several left and right handed layups off two feet in the paint and relentlessly rebounded the basketball on both ends. She faced up in the high post to drive using crossovers and had excellent footwork in the low post. Kiera will be an outstanding addition to the college program she chooses to play for.

Natalie had an outstanding performance at Northwood Team Camp during the summer and she doubled-down with another impressive day for Alpena at the Mid-Michigan Mega Scrimmage. She makes winning plays for her team on both sides of the ball. Natalie trapped a ball-handler from her help position on defense and dove to fight for a loose ball on the floor. She is an unselfish passer and made an accurate lob assist over the defense into the low post with her left hand. Natalie buried a mid-range pullup jumper off the dribble and dropped in a floater off two feet with a soft touch. She doesn't shy away from contact, battled for offensive boards, and will be a key contributor this winter for the Wildcats.

Faith is an elusive and tough point guard who had an impressive day for Alpena at the Mid-Michigan Mega Scrimmage on Saturday. She created separation with various combination dribbles and dished dimes to teammates for assists. Faith denied entry passes to cutters on defense, elevated to bat down a pass for a steal, and competed for 50/50 balls on the floor. She shifted into top gear and then used a crossover to score a swift layup in transition. Faith is a hard-nosed facilitator with abilities and attributes that will be exciting to watch this winter at Alpena.

Mayae missed a significant amount of time due to injury and it was great to see her back on the hardwood competing for Davison at the Mid-Michigan Mega Scrimmage on Saturday. Mayae had her sites lined up from beyond the arc, knocking down multiple 3s with confidence from the wing. She batted down a pass on defense to secure a steal and then used an effective pivot move to score off two feet inside. Mayae is a passionate player who brings intensity to the defensive end with her pesky pressure and her offensive versatility will be important for this resurgent Davison squad.
