As I explained at the top of the my previous article showcasing my pre-season top 5 3A all-state picks, there have been noteworthy changes to the make-up of the 64 schools composing the 3A classification. At the top end of KSHSAA's 2024-2025 Classifications and Enrollments Hayden returns to 4A after making a 3A state tournament appearance in 2024 and Scott City returns to 3A. At the bottom of the classification Rossville, Phillipsburg, Douglas and Leon-Bluestem drop to 2A. Garden Plain, Belle Plaine and Jayhawk-Linn. Riverside, after back-to-back deep 2A state tournament runs, also moves up. Given those changes here is a look at some of my top rising, pre-season, all-state picks.

Helms finished the 2024 season with the Rams after starting the season at Columbus. She had been a CNC League honorable mention selection in 2023. She will be among the most dominant point guards in the classification in 2025.

Able to play and defend multiple positions, Brawner would be among the top power forwards in the class if she only played the spot. Working on the wing, things get real ugly, real fast for shorter and physically weaker opponents. A returning Central Kansas League second teamer Brawner picked up KBCA third team as well as KSHSAACovered and Sports In Kansas 3A all-state nods.

For all of her ability Herrman is bar none one the most unknown centers in the state. Not only does she have terrific size and length but Herrman, a three time 3-2-1A state doubles champion, is especially nimble. I enjoy seeing not just how well she clears rebounds but also how well she handles the rock in transition. The Ark Valley Chisholm Trail Division IV first team selection picked up KSHSAACovered 3A honorable mention honors in 2024.

Roebuck led her Blue Streaks to a sub-state final a season ago, giving host Cheney everything it wanted. Watch for a return run this season. Roebuck is extremely versatile and knows how to get a basket at crucial moments. She is a three time Tri-Valley League first team selection. She also earned second team 3A nods by KBCA and Sports In Kansas as well as honorable mention from KSHSAACovered.

Jones may be penciled in as a point guard but she will do a lot of everything for the Longhorns. Her all-around game makes her especially difficult to handle. Shooting 43% from three (63/151) last season and generating traditional three point plays, by sinking free throws at a 76% clip, makes her a threat to surpass her 16 points per game in 2025. The Great West Activities Conference first teamer earned Sports In Kansas 3A second team and KSHSAACovered honorable mention nods.
