The Rise of the University of Jackson Lady Bruins Basketball Team

These kids come ready to play no matter the day, time, or gymnasium. They want to dominate. They want to eviscerate the opposition. They want to make the game 32 minutes of chaos for the opponent. Yes, the Lady Bruins are about that life. It is evident as they took home the gold ball last season and have the horses back to do so again (and maybe again and again). This team is solid all the way around and are ready to put on a show as the season nears.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Last year, we all know that happened. State champs won a 3 overtime bout with Goodpasture. What that game showed was the mental toughness and poise these young ladies have. Yes, of course they have talent. But to efficiently execute time and time again in clutch moments, that's what puts this team above others. It's their ability to lock in and create favorable matchups to their advantage. That's what makes this team legit. Last season, this club won their district, and finished the regular season 23-5. After dropping some early season contests, these young ladies were able to stack wins, catch lightning in a bottle, and that's all she wrote. They gained and learned valuable lessons which ultimately led to their state championship title.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This season, the Lady Bruins bring back all the key players. In order for anyone to take home the hardware in the Single A DII divisions, they are going to have to go through the Lady Bruins. It won't be an easy task to do so. They have one of the best players in the state, a balanced attack, and bring chaos every second of the game. They have size and they have speed. Add their mental toughness they possess and this club is poised to make another title run. These girls will be heavy favorites to win it all. You better believe they will get everyone's best game, but they will be ready for it. Blessed with so many intangibles such as size, length, speed, quickness, she doesn't take anything for granted. A multi-level scoring threat who is talented on both ends of the floor. Offensively, she knows how to exploit a defense to give herself or others favorable shot attempts. She knows how to be creative and break an opponent down off the dribble. Her ability to read the situation allows her to be in position to get boards or make timely passes. Defensively, she's a menace to society as she pressures the heck out of opponents. She gets steals, deflections, and blocks by the boatload. This kid is an exceptional athlete that stars in all the sports she plays. High major kid who is a gym rat that possesses incredible work ethic. Look for her to eclipse records, creating a legacy for herself. She has a high basketball IQ that enables her to make the right reads, be in position to exploit or take advantage of, and she's just a pure athlete. She can score it from the arc or penetrate and finish at the rim. I love her ability to defend, keeping the opposition in front, getting hands on the ball, which leads to deflections or steals. This kid knows her role and stars in it. She gets after it on every possession and does whatever it take to help her club win. Look for her to have a solid senior year and leave everything she has out on the court. It takes a special person to be a lockdown defender. This kid prides herself on that end of the floor. Putting pressure on the opposition that leads to turnovers is what she does best. She may not be the first or  scoring option on the offensive end, however she can knock it down from multiple spots on the floor. She can score from multiple spots on the floor, defend, and be in position to create turnovers.
