It's turkey week around the state of Tennessee. Our ladies are in action at various Thanksgiving tournaments. This week there are tons of pre and post Thanksgiving battles that are happening all around the Volunteer state. This marks week 2 of basketball and teams are getting better and better each time as they duke it out on the floor.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Yesterday, saw some young ladies who took that next step. Think of it as a quick first step on their way to the basket, but in reality it's a quick step towards raising their level of play. Shoot to be honest with you, it's them raising a lot more than just that. Their stock, their teams trajectory, them getting hot and doing what they do has instilled more confidence in them and for their team. The battles and matchups that are being had is getting squads ready for district play when it comes around. It's so important to get these games in. I know people say they don't matter that much, but they do. Coaches use weeks like these as benchmarks to see where their team is. Case in point, one school may play another school in another district because they may see each other down the road. Another example would be one single A school playing a a bigger school because they may have girls on their roster who may have similar talents to a team in their region or district. Yes the season is early, however each and every contest is important no matter what.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Monday saw some outstanding talent come to fruition and light up the scoreboard. Playing with a lot of confidence. This multi-sport athlete has been scorching the net. Coming off a MVP district season the previous year, this kid has picked up right where she left off. A three level scoring threat, she has been killing it on the floor. She is hard to slow down. Will get her points in sets or off transition break. Her stock is rising like crazy and look for her to help NCS reach new heights this year. Don't be surprised if this kid eventually breaks the school record. Is jumping onto the high school scene giving the Lady Lions of PCA a spark at the guard play. This multi-sport athlete is super fast and knows how to use her speed and quickness to get to favorable shots. Her game is still growing, however she is solid on both ends of the floor. She easily can get into double figures, add her ability to drop dimes and defend, this kid is one solid prospect the Lady Lions have on her hands. Stars on the hardwood and the pitch. Scored 20 pts, 2 rebs, 3 assists in their teams win over Morristown 52-39. She's a top talent in her class and her ability to not only pull up off the dribble and score, but be creative getting to the lane is pretty impressive. Numbers like these do come often, but she gets her work done within the framework of the offense. She is a selfless player who always gets her teammates involved. This game, it was her turn to carry the load and showout. Look for this kid to continue to do [player_tooltip player_id='583370' first='Skylar' last='Walden'] things such as scoring, assists, and playing solid defense. This young lady brings a unique talent to the Lady Panthers attack. Big time two way defender, she creates havoc on both ends of the floor. The addition to the program has been great and has given Bartlett an upper edge on opponents. Someone who can knock down a 3 ball as well as get to the rim is a premium amongst the league. Arrows were definitely pointing up has this young lady was dialing it up from deep at a high clip. This kid is a solid two way player who can score it from multiple spots on the floor. The value and leadership she brings to the fold sets the tone for which her team follows.
