Yesterday, we looked at a few kids I wanted to highlight in the 2026 and 2027 classes. Today, we're doing that same thing, but with the 2028 class instead.

Players with 6'0 size draw attention early, and John is no different. Numbers also don't necessarily tell the story with her because, as a post, she's reliant on guards to get her the ball in positions to succeed, which hasn't happened much. However, John's excelled at the controllables, like rebounding. She's the second-leading rebounder in a program where she doesn't start. John could surprise people and garner attention over the spring and summer grassroots season. You can't teach her size. John will also be much better with multiple talented guards around her. She's shown flashes of potential even in a situation where it's challenging.

Among 2028 guards, Mester is among the most entertaining. She has the ball on a string and utilizes a quick first step. The Mount Horeb native isn't among the most physically imposing defenders, but her willingness to dig and make plays is second to none. Mester plays with no fear and will stick her nose in to make plays on the ball no matter what. Offensively, she excels in pick and rolls as the ball handler because she can create off the dribble, make quick reads, and knock down shots if the defense goes under the screen. Her size will concern people at the next level, but she can play at a high level.

The Boyceville product has a little quirkiness in her game. Her shots look a little funky, but you can't argue with the results to this point. I love her effort around the rim and her motor by earning her team extra possessions. Jeske will be a kid who becomes a stat-sheet stuffer at a small school to help them be the best version of themselves, and she's doing some of that already. The rebounding at her size is excellent and will be a valuable part of the Bulldogs' program for the next three and a half seasons.

Freedom always has a deep rotation of players, and Calhoon has slotted into that role. The 5'8 guard was a better defender than I expected when I first saw her last week, and her length flusters opposing guards on the perimeter. Calhoon will generate plenty of live-ball turnovers in her time as a member of the Irish. Calhoon could be a prominent player for the Irish in the next few seasons because she can create off the dribble. If her shots start falling more regularly, she'll be a handful for NEC defenses to handle.
