Douglas Lady Bulldogs are Hitting their Stride

The Douglas Lady Bulldogs have been a very competitive program for a few years now, but this year may be the year that they take this program to new heights. They are loaded with Seniors that have been in the program for 4 years, and two of their Seniors are among the best in Southern Arizona. Scarlette Ruiz and [player_tooltip player_id='1052288' first='Francia' last='Rubio'] are battle tested guards that can play multiple positions and are terrific defenders. They both are prolific scorers and can score at all 3 levels. I covered their game recently with a Rio Rico and here are some of the impact players for both of those teams.   Impact Players for Douglas vs. Rio Rico:    [player_tooltip player_id='1197378' first='Angelina' last='Whelan'] is an outstanding player that can play Forward or Center. She has a nice touch on her jump shot and is very comfortable shooting from mid-range. She is very athletic for her size and she can get up and down the floor quickly. She is a very good rebounder. She has good agility and jumping ability and is a nightmare to box out and defend.       [player_tooltip player_id='1052288' first='Francia' last='Rubio'] is a very talented Combo Guard that can play both the point guard and shooting guard position at a high level. She is an outstanding shooter. She is also a very good passer from the point and can finish multiple ways on her drives to the basket. What may be the most underrated part of her game is her defense and the ability to create steals.     [player_tooltip player_id='1196495' first='Julissa' last='Quijada'] is a solid Shooting Guard that plays with high energy and passion. She can shoot 3 pointers at a high percentage and is a solid mid range shooter. She is also a very good defender that communicates well and can guard forwards as well.     [player_tooltip player_id='1140901' first='Carolina' last='Anguiano'] is an under the radar player that has a ton of potential. She can move very well for a player with her length and size. She can play the small forward or power forward position on Offense and can guard 4 positions on defense. She is a very good rebounder and she can shoot extremely well.     [player_tooltip player_id='1197382' first='Dana' last='Pena'] is a prototype Power Forward that can play in the Post as well. She is very versatile in the Post. She can set up her moves and finish with regularity. She is a crafty rebounder that can box out and get her team in transition quickly on the defensive rebound. She's a good offensive player that has a lot of upside.     [player_tooltip player_id='1197384' first='Keyra' last='Espinosa'] is a point guard that is very comfortable with driving the ball to the basket. She can score with floaters in the lane and she can score on the pull-up as well. She also is a very good distributor. She is a good defender and plays with a high motor.     [player_tooltip player_id='1197389' first='Addison' last='Hix'] is an up and coming player that has tremendous potential. She is very athletic and she is a tough defender. She can score around the rim and she can also shoot from all 3 levels. She is an intense competitor that plays within herself and calm under pressure.
